We are seeking a Full Stack Android Developer who will be responsible for the development of a mobile app's functionality on the Android platform, ensuring that new features like digital ID storage, GPS tracking, and parole compliance tools are implemented effectively. This role requires an understanding of both front-end and back-end development for Android, along with ensuring the app remains legally compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy the Android version of the Illinois Reentry Guide App, focusing on core enhancements like document storage, financial literacy tools, and parole compliance features.
- Implement GPS-enabled tools for parole check-ins, and real-time notifications to prevent missed appointments or benefit renewal deadlines.
- Integrate third-party services for job applications, telemedicine, and Medicaid enrollment.
- Ensure seamless collaboration with cross-platform developers to maintain consistent functionality and user experience across iOS and Android platforms.
- Stay up to date and adhere to privacy, security, and legal compliance requirements (including HIPAA and parole-related regulations).
- Conduct regular code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance testing to enhance app functionality.
- Collaborate with project management, designers, and other developers to deliver high-quality software within set timelines.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Android development.
- Proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
- Demonstrated experience with GPS-based services, push notifications, and healthcare-related integrations.
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, parole, and other compliance regulations.
- Strong understanding of both front-end UI/UX principles and back-end architecture.
- Familiarity with cloud services, APIs, and database management (e.g., Firebase, SQLite).
- Knowledge of cross-platform development (e.g., React Native) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with third-party integrations such as telemedicine services, Medicaid enrollment, or job application platforms.
- Familiarity with implementing secure document storage solutions and data encryption.
- A keen eye for detail in terms of legal compliance and user data protection.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, but also self-driven for independent tasks.
