Description

CareLink is a non-profit, mission-based 501c3 organization that was founded in 1997 by non-profit post-acute and community-based organizations specializing in the care of older adults and adults with disabilities. These organizations include long-term care, housing, hospice, home care, assisted living and adult-day health. In addition, CareLink is a direct provider of a range of health and wellness services including rehabilitation (PT/OT/SLP), mobile dental, audiology, podiatry, psychiatry, brain health and wellness services. We keep individuals doing the things that they want to do, independently, in the place they call home.


This full-time position (30-40 hours per week) would provide coverage to our Northern RI Region and would be primarily located at St. Antoine Community in North Smithfield. Occasional coverage outside of this area may be required.


A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports patient well-being, rehabilitation, and recovery by providing direct support to a plan of care prescribed by an Occupational Therapist. The COTA provides unique therapeutic services to enhance the goals and objectives of eligible patients (within the parameters of training and expertise) designed and established by the Occupational Therapist. This individual helps patients with physical, mental, emotional, or social limitations to improve their quality of life and independence.


Essential functions:

  • In collaboration with the Occupational Therapist and the interdisciplinary team, the COTA implements the occupational therapy treatment plan as prescribed by the Occupational Therapist; monitors and accurately documents patients’ progress; and operates the therapeutic equipment in a safe and clinically appropriate manner.
  • Fulfills all job functions of a staff Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant within scope of practice.
  • Responsible for documentation of treatments, recording patient status, treatment response, changes noted, and patient, family, and caregiver education.
  • Assessing the home environments of patients and recommending modifications if applicable.
  • Advising on adaptive equipment to help clients with activities of daily living; must be able to operate in area of practice; apply indications and contraindications according to patient diagnosis and standard operating procedures.
  • Educating caregivers and family members of clients on patient care.
  • Maintaining professional knowledge in order to provide clients with evidence-based standards of practice.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local certification requirements.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state(s) where services are rendered.
  • Interest in working with all abilities including the intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) population
  • Must possess a valid and current driver license and auto insurance.
  • Willing to obtain or possesses current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Salary Description
$27 to $33 per hour depending on experience
