Princeton YMCA is currently seeking multiple Swim Instructors to help swimmers of various ages and levels to build confidence in and around the water. We are looking for energetic individuals to support our mission in strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
General Function:
The Private Swim Instructor serves members though Private Swimming sessions. S/he builds relationships with members and program participants through effective and positive customer service while providing a safe instructional environment.
Hours: Weekdays 4pm-7pm & Weekends 9am-2pm
Essential duties:
Private Swim Instruction:
- Executes Swim programs/lessons that are specifically tailored to the members’ goals and physical limitations
- Follows developmentally appropriate teaching methods and recommended guidelines
- Keeps accurate recording of client information such as planned sessions, progression, ect
General:
- Engages all members/participants in a professional and courteous manner:
- Greet/say hello and goodbye to all participants in the aquatics area and learn members names and call them by their names
- Listen and be accessible to all members for questions and comments
- Follow-up as needed
- Engages members on new classes, new changes, etc.
- Maintains proper functioning/cleanliness and/or report malfunctioning of Water area/equipment to supervisor
- Redirects members on cell phones to front lobby
- Adheres and incorporate the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and educates members about the YMCA mission and goals
- Attends trainings, seminars and meetings as required
Other duties:
- Arrives to work five (5) minutes before shift starts
- Wear appropriate and professional uniform/attire
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Must be 15 years of age or older
· Experience working with children a plus
· Interest in teaching preschool and school aged children
· Experience with parent/child classes or willing to learn is a plus
· Must have or obtain upon hire, First Aid and CPR/AED Certification
Required education/certifications:
- Blood borne Pathogens certification within 30 days of hire
- SH YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hire
- SH YMCA New Staff Orientation Training within 90 days of hire
- Must have or obtain upon hire, First Aid and CPR/AED Certification
