Statement of Purpose: Accountant I is responsible for collection, classifying, interpreting, maintenance, and preparation of financial reporting for CAN Community Health, Inc.


Essential Functions:

  1. Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare book of accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  2. Analyze daily banking transactions and journal entries and prepare deposits.
  3. Reconcile sub-ledger accounts.
  4. Credit Card reconciliations.
  5. Reviews and approves weekly AP invoices & data entry for correct account classification.
  6. Reconciles monthly petty cash and all bank statements.
  7. Reconciles and prepares monthly financial reports, grant reimbursements, and accounting of various cost centers and subsidiaries.
  8. Prepares year-end financial reports.
  9. Assists with Annual Year-End Audit.
  10. Monitor compliance with general accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  11. Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
  12. Promotes and practices CAN Community Health, Inc.’s mission and values, and follows its policies and procedures.


Secondary Tasks:

  1. Cross-trains for effective team participation.
  2. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient/client and/or family in accordance with professional and departmental standards.
  3. Performs all other duties as assigned.
  4. Yearly accounting continuing professional education courses.



Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Knowledge of computer operation, Oracle NetSuite, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office.
  2. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  4. Ability to accurately coordinate several tasks at one time.
  5. Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population. 

Education/Professional:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Experience in non-profit setting preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in business, medical or accounting firm, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Neat, professional appearance.
  2. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly in lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  3. Requires expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word, visual and auditory acuity.
  4. Valid Driver’s License

Sexual Harassment HIPAA Health Stream Courses (as assigned)
