Description

The Comfort Inn Latham is looking for maintenance technicians to fill immediate openings in Latham, NY. The qualified maintenance technician is dependable, detail-oriented, able to work independently, and prides themself on a job well done. They have previous experience in hotel maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, and electrical work and can do maintenance and repair work with excellent customer service skills. This position can be full-time or part-time and can include weekends. We promise the right candidate a fun, safe, positive atmosphere.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES


Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Maintains the basic upkeep of all rooms and common areas by ensuring all furniture, appliances, and electrical equipment, such as televisions, refrigerators, and light fixtures, are in working order.
  • Ensures all paint and flooring meet company standards.
  • Repairs or replaces all HVAC systems, such as individual air conditioning units, as needed.
  • Cleans and maintains the hotel’s exterior spaces, such as the parking lot, swimming pool, landscaping, etc.
  • Responsible for helping the hotel meet all fire codes, health codes, and legal requirements of the facility, as well as all OSHA rules and regulations, and ensuring that all exits are properly working, labeled, and accessible. This may occasionally include meeting and guiding vendors on the property.
  • Ensures the safety and security of the furniture, fixtures, equipment, and walkways throughout and inside the facility.
  • Completes maintenance checklist: one for outside and one for inside the facility daily.
  • Checks the physical condition of hotel rooms, assisting in preventative maintenance.
  • Ensures that all safety policies and procedures are communicated, understood, and complied with on an ongoing basis.
  • Participates in team and individual department staff meetings.
  • Recommends new equipment necessary to maintain the hotel’s image and conditions.
  • Works to meet targeted building and engineering supply budget figures for each budget period.
  • Works within the department as per the standard operating procedures manual and updates if necessary.
  • Maintains open communication with Managers and reports issues and emergencies as required.
  • Performs snow removal when assigned, including being able to operate a truck with a snow plow and to be able to hand shovel. 90%

Guest Service

  • Offer guests assistance whenever possible.
  • Responsible for resolving or escalating customer relations issues.
  • Answers inquiries about hotel policies and services.
  • Must appropriately address guest requests to ensure customers are satisfied with the hotel’s services and accommodations.
  • Responsible for positively representing and promoting the property.
  • Ensures systems and procedures are in place and followed for guest safety and security.
  • Assists guests and staff with anything that they may need from a maintenance perspective. Ongoing

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Assists other employees as needed.
  • Properly secures all tools, equipment, and supplies after use.
  • Reports any major repair issues or requests to the Facilities Manager, Hotel Manager, and General Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant work experience required.
  • 1+ years of previous maintenance/grounds experience required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical, and other general repair skills.
  • Ability to efficiently work under time constraints.
  • Possesses good organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Able to work independently and with others.
  • Superior customer service and communication skills
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry 75+ pounds.
  • Frequently walks, bends, climbs, kneels, and extends reach to complete assigned tasks.
  • Possesses the physical ability to perform all of the above-mentioned duties within a defined period of time.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • May be required to travel.
  • Use of a personal vehicle is required.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); works near moving mechanical parts; works in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; and a risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Must be able to operate the following tools: Snow blower, plow and salter, Jack hammer, Tractor, Hand tools, Leaf blower, Lawn mower, Basic power tools, Forced Air Sanitizer.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.


Salary Description
$18-$25 per hour
