Work in this class includes day-to-day activities in the Clinical Services Department which involves the detention program. Activities include supervision of detained youth within the program. This person is administratively responsible to the Director of Programs.

Illustrative Examples of Work
Is responsible for a caseload of juvenile residents
Develops and maintains case plans and mental health treatment plans
Maintains contact with outside agencies as it relates to each clients case
Participates in multi-disciplinary staffing on clients, as well as various other staffings
Attends to youth’s emotional and physical needs.
Establishes and maintains a communication link with detained youth while providing positive reinforcement. Assists youth in education endeavors and conducts counseling sessions and other therapeutic milieus as per Director of Clinical Services.
Maintains a proper suicide watch for youth that exhibit self-destructive tendencies and/or classified as having suicidal tendencies. Communicate with Director of Clinical Services, Director of Operations, and medical department.
Provides ongoing communication with medical, educational, security, and administrative staff as necessary to ensure continuity of care for youth.
Keeps up with changes in policies and procedures, therapeutic milieus, and other required training.
Attends all departmental meetings, etc. Attends a required facility in-service training and other workshops/training to enhance professional development.
Performs any service the Director of Programs may request as it pertains to management duties and/or care of residents or proper administration of the support services program as required by facility policy, licensing guidelines and/or DCFS standards.

The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing,
Knowledge of adolescent development,
Considerable and demonstrated skill in counseling and crisis intervention,
Thorough knowledge of FPJDC Policies and Procedures, and
Have a resourceful and imaginative nature.

Persons working with adolescents in a shelter/group home/detention setting will be given preference.
