Environ Energy is seeking a skilled Data Engineer/Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports using Power BI. You will use SQL and other data extraction and transformation frameworks to build databases and conceptual data models in support of the company’s analytics and reporting needs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather data, understand reporting requirements, and provide actionable insights that drive strategic decisions. Your role is crucial in transforming raw data into meaningful business intelligence to support data-driven decision-making within the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret large datasets from various sources to provide actionable insights.
  • Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate key business metrics.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis and deliver reports to support specific business needs or projects.
  • Design and produce monthly, quarterly and ad hoc management and financial reports.

Dashboard Design & Development:

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for Power BI reporting.
  • Design, build, and deploy user-friendly dashboards and reports that provide meaningful insights to stakeholders.
  • Ensure      data integrity and accuracy in all reporting. Analyze and resolve data discrepancies.

Data Management:

  • Extract and transform data from multiple sources (databases, cloud services, etc.) for reporting and analysis.
  • Create and optimize data models and datasets for use in Power BI.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of Power BI reports and dashboards to ensure smooth functioning. 

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with business leaders, stakeholders, and team members to understand their data and reporting needs.
  • Communicate findings and insights through presentations and reports to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data availability and quality in Power BI environments.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate reporting tasks, and streamline the delivery of business intelligence.
  • Stay updated with the latest features and updates in Power BI and integrate them into the organization’s analytics processes.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI tools and functionality.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Power BI, including report development, data modeling, and dashboard creation.
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query) and SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
    • Proficiency in building Power Query data flows and designing effective conceptual data models using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
    • Demonstrated ability to design relational data models that follow data modeling best practices. Ability to design star schema data models for BI reporting.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Data Fabric frameworks and Azure Synapse Analytics is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to work with complex datasets and extract meaningful insights.
    • Excellent understanding of business operations and the ability to link data to business outcomes.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
    • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
    • Proactive and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  •   Preferred Qualifications:
    • Microsoft Power BI certification or other relevant certifications.
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL Database and Microsoft IDE tools, such as Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code and/or SQL Server Management Studio. 
    • Experience with other BI tools (Tableau, QlikView) is an advantage.
    • Familiarity with DAX, Python or R for advanced data analysis.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business Administration or related fields.
  • 2-4 years of related work experience.
  • Proven experience with Power BI and other BI technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and analyze signi?cant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

 

The good faith salary hiring range for this position is $70,000 - $110,000 per year. Please note hiring ranges for candidates may differ based on education and experience.
