National 501c4 nonprofit organization seeks an enthusiastic fundraising professional to join our Development team as the Development Associate working a full-time hybrid-remote schedule (2 days in office per week) in our Minneapolis, MN location. This is an exempt role and is represented by the United Steelworkers Local Union, 2022-22.

Job Summary: The Development Associate (DA) plays an essential role as the person responsible for maintaining BGA’s sophisticated fundraising database, which tracks relationships, grants, deadlines, and more. The DA also drives the creation of funder collateral and internal cross-program communications. The DA reports to the Vice President of Development and works closely with the Senior Development Manager. This individual also regularly works with the Finance, Administration, and Communications teams.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 


Database Management & Analytics 

  • Maintain Salesforce by entering and tracking: next steps with existing and potential funders, grant proposal and report deadlines, grant and contribution information and key funder and donor contact information; 
  • Utilize Salesforce to create biweekly and annual dashboards and other analytics; 
  • Maximize the potential of Salesforce to support BGA’s fundraising efforts;
  • Integrate Salesforce with the organization’s communications database, Every Action;

Grant & Fundraising Support

  • Oversee grant schedules using Salesforce, ensuring teams are apprised of upcoming activities and deadlines; 
  • Create and maintain organizational support documents for grant applications and reporting materials;
  • Develop fundraising materials, independently or in coordination with BGA’s Communications team, to support state and general fundraising efforts; 
  • Research and identify foundation and individual donor prospects; 
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment of grants and gifts, regularly refreshing acknowledgments and stewardship materials; 
  • Produce and maintain internal support documents for grant applications and reporting; 

Cross-Program Collaboration & Communication 

  • Drive the creation of internal cross-program communications systems and tools to support team collaboration, and maintain them; 
  • Schedule internal grants management and other related meetings;  

Additional Support 

  • Support event registration and sponsorships as needed
  • Assist the Vice President of Development with other assignments as needed; and 
  • Provide general support to the team and complete additional duties as assigned. 
Requirements

Required Work Experience 

  • Minimum 1-3 years of work experience in nonprofit development or fundraising; 
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience managing Salesforce or a comparable CRM/database.

Skills and Capabilities: 

  • Proficiency in database management and data integration, preferably with systems like Every Action or other fundraising/communications tools; 
  • Understanding of fundraising processes, including grant applications, reporting, and stewardship; 
  • High ethical standards, sound judgment, and ability to maintain professional confidentiality; 
  • Strong research skills to identify foundation and individual donor prospects; 
  • Excellent organizational skills with experience managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities, especially in a fast-paced environment; 
  • Ability to build mutually respectful, trusting, and effective internal and external relationships;  
  • Exhibit positive and respectful manner with colleagues, partners, and allies;  
  • Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accurate and up-to-date records; 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop materials independently and collaborate effectively with communications teams; 
  • Proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to drive internal communications and cross-program coordination with staff in different locations across several time zones; 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while providing support to a broader team 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with project management tools is desirable  
  • Demonstrated commitment to economic, racial, and environmental justice and building the labor movement; and 
  • A deep commitment to the mission of the BlueGreen Alliance. 


COMPENSATION 

A compensation package including competitive salary with annual COLA increases and employer-funded benefits is available. 


Salary 

The salary range is $80,000 - $95,000 yearly, exempt. BGA utilizes salary bands to ensure pay equity and transparency. Final salary within the salary range will be based on experience level and qualifications.

Salary Description
$80,000 - $95,000 yearly, exempt
