The Village of Mount Prospect (pop. 56,852) is located 23 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and hosts a station along the Metra Union Pacific Northwest commuter train line. Minutes away from O’Hare International and Chicago Executive airports, the Village’s southernmost boundary is Interstate 90. 


The Village is seeking a dynamic leader for our next Director of Human Resources who will perform highly responsible strategic and administrative work and direct all functions of the Human Resources Division. The Director of Human Resources manages two (2) full-time staff, is a key member of the Village’s Leadership Team, and reports directly to the Village Manager. The Village employs 317 full-time and 25 part-time individuals, supported by the HR team. The organization is very stabile and includes a highly talented team of professionals at all levels.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years progressively responsible HR experience, and the proven ability to analyze a variety of complex issues in order to make sound recommendations for resolution. A thorough understanding of benefit plan administration, legal compliance, risk mitigation, compensation plan management, employee and labor relations (including contract negotiations), performance management, recruiting, and training is essential. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required (Master’s in HR or Public Administration and SPHR or SHRM-SCP a plus). An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training will be considered.


The full salary range is $125,966 – $176,352 annually; starting salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
