Summary
Have the ability to follow work instructions, use the computer database, use inspection tooling and perform inspections during the manufacturing operation to aerospace criteria. Work with direction from Quality Manager / Production Team Leader.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work from and have the ability to follow work instructions including: finding job paperwork from the computer database; read blueprints; set-up and use of inspection tooling; and perform visual inspections to tight aerospace criteria; inspect parts throughout the machining process after first part approval.
- Identify critical information from drawings such as; ability to understand / interpret geometric tolerance, locate and inspect all notes, verify and use proper revisions
- Must demonstrate the ability to use various inspection tooling and gauging which includes: CMM, Comparator, Microhite, Pocket Surf, Indicator, Johnson Gage, Sunnen Gage, Air Gage, all other hand tools as necessary.
- Perform a visual inspection of each work-piece to ensure it is free of any visual defects such as burrs, nicks, surface finish, scratches and other deleterious imperfections. Visual inspection may require the use of a microscope or other magnification devices. Perform dimensional inspection as called out on the in process inspection paperwork. Exchange vital information with machine operators about the quality of parts being manufactured.
Key Roles
- Able to interpret and understand drawings, router and manufacturing op sheets for parts being produced
- Uses alternate method of inspection to validate when discrepancy is found and once verified, alerts the operator/cell leaders of the conditions found
- Accurately completes paperwork & ensure paperwork is correct
- Works well with coworkers / internal customers

Education & Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), some related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.
- Ability to perform statistical process control input and interpret statistical data to compensate for machining deviation. Ability to perform mathematical calculations on fractions, percentages, and decimals and metric conversion.
