Lead Teacher - Floater
Description

JOB SUMMARY:

In this position, the Lead Teacher - Floater works as part of a team made up of the Children and Youth Development and Education Department Director, Program Manager, Group Leaders, Assistant Group Leaders, Aides, Cook and clerical staff. They ensure the coordination of quality program (PA Pre-K Counts, NAEYC and OCDEL requirements for accreditation) for children six (6) weeks to five (5) years of age in the Children and Youth Development and Education Department. 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Coordinate daily, developmentally appropriate activities, implement curriculum, and conduct assessments.

· Ensure coordination of a quality program (DHS certification) for children ages six (6) weeks to five (5) years of age. 

· Support Center operations through subbing in classrooms as needed at both YWCA Homewood and Propel Braddock Hills sites.

· Work with Director and fellow staff members to conduct program evaluations to ensure a quality program is offered to children and families.

· Supervises/manages Assistant Group Supervisors, aides, and volunteers in the assigned group area; works cooperatively with all other staff. 

· Maintain compliance with PA health and safety standards for childcare programs.

· Provide an enriching and high-quality program for children by striving to meet Keystone Stars and NAEYC quality standards.

· Work in conjunction with co-workers and management to achieve an inclusive and equitable work culture.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· A bachelor’s degree and Pre-K to 4 certification from an accredited college or university in early childhood education or child development. OR

· A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education or child development with proof of teacher plan to achieve ECE certification. PLUS

· Act 33/34 clearances, fingerprinting, National Sex Offender Registry Clearance, and criminal background checks as well as Mandated Reporter.

· Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed to meet the objectives of the program.

· Access to reliable transportation.
