Position Summary
The Co-Executive Director will be responsible for the overall direction of the Detroit Collaborative Design Center and its connection to the School of Architecture and Community Development, University of Detroit Mercy, Detroit and beyond. The scope of this position includes: directing the organization mission, vision, values and goals, establishing design and engagement values and expectations; marketing; fund development; and outreach all in collaboration with other DCDC administration and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the DCDC team to:
- Guide the current and future vision, mission and goals of the center.
- Guide design and engagement values and expectations.
- Guide fund development and business development.
- Guide the engagement, design and research vision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education – An accredited college degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and/or urban planning.
- Employment – Seven years to ten years (Equivalent combination of education and employment).
Preferred Qualifications
An accredited college degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and/or urban planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Collaborative leadership skills.
- Strong critical design skills as illustrated through past work.
- Ability to provide design direction and constructive, equitable feedback.
- Ability to lead community engaged design and participatory design processes.
- Strong communication skills.
- 7 to 10 years of practical experience in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and/or urban planning.
- Very familiar with AutoCAD, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign), SketchUp and/or Rhino (or other 3D modeling software) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Revit a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other DCDC team members.
- Ability or past experience co-directing.
Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Work Environment
Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions when visiting project sites.
Licenses/Certifications
Architecture or landscape architecture license a plus

Commensurate with experience
Anticipated Schedule
Monday to Friday – 8.00 AM to 5.00 PM
