Under the supervision of the program director, the Play & Learn Group Facilitator will lead playgroups with children, from infants up to children age 6 years old, and their parent/caregiver with curriculum based on the Massachusetts Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create a warm and welcoming environment for all children, parents & families.
- Assist children and parent/caregivers in developmentally appropriate activities.
- Lead a circle time using interactive reading techniques and facilitate music & movement.
- Engage with all children and their families during every playgroup.
- Assist parents in accessing parenting information, family support services and community resources.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Collect data required by the grant.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in early childhood education or a related field OR a minimum of two years of experience working with young children.
- Able to interact and communicate effectively with parents, children and staff.
- Able to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Must be able to obtain certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention within the first 30 days of hire.
- Abe to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Schedule: Flexible hours at 4-8 hours/week, performed on weekdays only.
Job Type: Part-Time Hourly
Pay & Benefits: Starting at $16.00 per hour based on experience. Plus, Access to YMCA facilities (gym, pool ect. at local branches) for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave.
