Job Summary: 


The part-time Teacher’s Aide & Kids Club Aide serves a dual role in supporting both classroom learning and after-school enrichment in a Christ-focused environment. During school hours, this role assists the teacher by preparing materials, monitoring student behavior, and providing one-on-one or small group assistance to students. After school, the Teachers' Aide and Kids Club Aide supervises students in the after-school program, helping with homework, leading structured activities, and ensuring students’ safety while engaging them in creative and recreational activities.  


Role and Responsibilities:

  •     Display a deep knowledge of subject/grade and assist with teaching it from a Biblical perspective
  •     Display the ability to connect Biblical truth to students lives
  •     Demonstrate a passion for ministering to students through teaching, counseling, and mentoring          
  •     Assist the teacher in preparing lesson materials, grading papers, and managing the classroom
  •     Assist in promoting student engagement to inspire learning capabilities of each student  
  •     Assist with check-in and check-out processes for after school attendees 
  •     Supervise students on the playground and maintain a visual on all students
  •     Implement playground rules
  •     Plan and execute crafts, games, and activity centers for attendees
  •     Assist with set up and breakdown of crafts, games, and centers
  •     Wipe down tables and counters
  •     Secure doors and play areas
  •     Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff
  •     Assist in managing student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines
  •     Attend professional development workshops provided by Valley Christian Schools (if applicable)
  •     Assist in providing a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students on the school campus
  •     Exercise open and respectful communication with students, families, co-workers, and supervisors
  •     Adhere to and honor Valley Christians' standards, policies, and procedures in the Employee Handbook
  •     Perform other related assigned duties


Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  •     Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others
  •     Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school
  •     Agree to uphold Valley Christian's Statement of Faith
  •     Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card  
  •     Must have minimum 1 year of experience in education
  •     Current CPR and First Aide certifications preferred 
  •     Be flexible to stay late if a parent arrives late
  •     Ability to communicate with parents when students misbehave during Kids Club
  •     Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  •     Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  •     Must be proficient With Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  •     Ability to multi-task with organization
  •     Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
  •     Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement
  •     Ability to organize and prioritize work
  •     Ability to resolve problems, follow through, and manage multiple priorities to ensure that goals are met

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  •  Prior school experience 
  •  BS/BA degree or equivalent skill/experience in related field

Physical Requirements:

  • Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time 
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds 
  • At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story) 
  • Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
  • Work in noisy and crowded school environment 
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
  • Frequent walking throughout the campus
  • Work around small children including sitting, standing, running and climbing stairs
  • Must be able to lift and carry small children up to 40 pounds in case of emergency
