POSITION SUMMARY

The main responsibilities include 

  1. the creation, implementation, oversight, and direction of all PCCC program camps, 
  2. cultivating an efficient and impactful program team,
  3. ensuring each program is performed with excellence to achieve PCCC’s mission, 
  4. leading and coordinating the Outdoor Education program, and 
  5. working with the Management Team to achieve PCCC’s mission and strategic vision.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The employee must accept the lodging from PCCC as a condition of employment to carry out responsibilities of the fire evacuation plan. The employee would not be able perform this service without the lodging. 
  • Must take part in the fire evacuation plan for the area that they are assigned.      

(1) Creation, implementation, oversight, and direction of all PCCC program camps

  • Oversee the following PCCC programs, but not limited to, Outdoor Education, Boys Adventure Camp, Girl’s Horse Camp, and     any additional program camps under the direction of the Lead Director.
  • Ensure effective coordination of all Program needs with related departments.
  • Prepare financial budgets for the Program department and is responsible to make sure spending is maintained within approved budgets.
  • Work in conjunction with the Lead Director to market PCCC programs. Responsible to fill all youth camps with campers.
  • Is Head Health Supervisor; oversees and maintains all aspects of medical care related to program including health screening of campers, recording medical logs, dispensing of all medications, and first aid care and replenishment of first aid supplies.
  • Assist the Lead Director in camp development and in other staff ministries as directed.

(2) Cultivating an efficient and impactful program team

  • Oversee the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of all Program staff. Recommend to the Lead Director the hiring or dismissal of any employee under his/her supervision.
  • Lead, supervise, and support the Horsemanship Director, Adventure Camp Lead, and other program leads as they plan, prepare, run, and evaluate their programs. 
  • Develop, support, and edify your staff spiritually, professionally, and personally.

(3) Ensuring each program is performed with excellence to achieve PCCC’s mission.

  • Prayerfully leads the Program department to serve with excellence in all areas of responsibility.
  • Sets deadlines and standards for the development and implementation of all PCCC program camps.
  • Observes program camps and program staff to ensure excellence and help the program department to improve where needed.
  • Evaluate the camper’s experience through surveys and intentional conversations; gather stories/testimonies/decisions that happened at Palomar to ensure impact, encourage staff, and help with fundraising.

(4) Leading and coordinating the Outdoor Education Program

  • Run an impactful Outdoor Education program by coordinating details with teachers, organizing and delegating responsibilities and results to OE staff, evaluating and improving the program, and helping run program elements such as orientation, camp devotions, and OE classes.
  • Develop relationships with school leadership and teachers to build them up and to create long-term partnerships with Christian schools within a 4 hour radius of PCCC. 

(5) Working with the Leadership Team to achieve PCCC’s mission and strategic vision

  • Contribute and engage in Leadership Team meetings including manager’s meetings, strategic planning, and leading staff trainings/meetings.
  • Meet objectives and deadlines for quarterly leadership goals. 
  • Teach all staff devotions occasionally/be a part of the spiritual development of all staff.

(6) Miscellaneous

  • Coordinate program department help for camp activities on weekends and in the offseason.
  • Coordinate with the Accommodations Manager in the oversite, development, and upkeep of the ropes course elements.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager and other program staff to keep trails trimmed, in good condition, and continue developing a greater trail system.
  • Assist in the care of the horses when other staff are not available.
  • Use basic carpentry and power tool skills to create backdrops, sets, class materials, etc. and make small fixes to equipment when maintenance team is not available.
  • Willingness and flexibility to help with other departments as needed.
  • Keep regular, timely attendance while maintaining a clean, safe, and unobstructed workplace*

Requirements
  • Must have at least three (3) years prior work experience in comparable field including supervision of a program team; five (5) or more years of experience desired.
  • Demonstrates a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, exercising personal faith through consistent daily living in accordance to God’s Word.
  • Understands the mission of Palomar Christian Conference Center and submits all other goals and desires to that main goal.
  • Possesses a deep desire to serve the Lord in a Christian ministry and agrees with the PCCC Statement of Faith.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses the interpersonal skills required to maintain positive relations with both staff and guests.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills and presents a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Possesses strong attention to detail and organization while managing multiple priorities. 
  • Is proficient in basic Microsoft applications (Windows, Office, etc.) .
  • Enjoys and relates well with youth, exhibiting patience and a strong Christian witness.
  • Posses good managerial and interpersonal skills and is committed to delivering high quality, professional programs in a Christian context.
  • College degree is preferred.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
  • Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrates a strong heart for ministry and spiritual maturity as evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit.
