Description

The Quality Engineer (QE) works to ensure the overall quality of Qnergy’s manufactured products. The QE works within a wider team of professionals within Qnergy to ensure that the final products are safe, reliable, and meet customer expectations while keeping the manufacturing process as effective and cost-efficient as possible. The QE tests processes, monitors quality standards, creates documentation, devises quality tests and defines the criteria a test result should meet. The Quality Engineer monitors the quality of a process and plays a key role in fixing issues when they arise and partnering with Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain to continuously improve processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Design quality standards and establish criteria for product quality.
  • Develop capable processes with efficiency in mind.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and training for Production and Quality departments by having an active presence on the production floor.
  • Ensure written procedures and documentation are available, correct and properly followed throughout Operations.
  • Schedule and conduct internal audits and report findings to applicable area management and Quality management.
  • Conduct material and process issue investigations and determine proper escalation procedures.
  • Conduct effective Root Cause Analysis to determine true root causes of quality issues and develop containment plans and corrective actions.
  • Participate in design and implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Issue, track, trend, report and close out internal Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Support the buildout of an effective Quality program, including an electronic Quality Management System.
  • Lead quality improvement projects.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • BA or BS in Engineering, Operations, Business (Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • Certified Quality Engineer through ASQ preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing and/or contract manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). CMM Programming experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven working knowledge and experience with an electronic Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excell, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to resolve and handle difficult challenges and issues in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in technical/operational/business English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to collect, analyze, trend and report data to improve product quality and process effectiveness.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to devise effective solutions to complex quality issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Vigilance in monitoring processes and identifying deviations from quality standards.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of quality control processes, methodologies, and relevant technologies used in their industry.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, datasheets, plus verbal and written work instructions.


Work Environment:

  • Some lifting up to 30 pounds may be required. 
  • Regular use of a computer keyboard is required.
  • Employee regularly stands for several hours per shift.
  • This position requires the employee to be present in the office or on the job site, and therefore, attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Employee is regularly required to speak and hear clearly, both in person and by telephone.
  • Regularly utilizes written and oral communication skills.
  • Requires ability to read and interpret information and documents.
  • Performs detailed work on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Must be able to identify and determine colors.
  • Primarily engineering, laboratory, and shop environments.
  • Must be willing and able to work at the jobsite. 
  • Work responsibilities may require access to areas where noise and temperature levels are elevated. 
  • The employee is regularly required to perform a wide variety of physical tasks, from handling small precision machined parts to lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
