 Job Summary: 


The Medical Scribe works to facilitate patient flow through the Medical Office by assisting Provider through accurate and complete medical record entry into the Electronic Medical Record for each patient.


Duties:

  • Accompany the Provider while he/she conducts the exam and record patient history, demographics, exam details, and notes into the EMR.
  • Helps ensure proper patient flow by coordinating resources regarding additional tests, procedural orders, diagnostics, and results.
  • Ensures patients are welcomed in a warm and friendly manner and sees their needs and expectations are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth operations in the fast paced environment of the clinic with the goal of a positive patient experience with every encounter.
  • Coordinates with clinic staff to ensure a positive patient flow, waiting room, and exam room experience.
  • Updates electronic record at direction of physician.
  • Transcribes medical decision-making in real time under direction of physician, creating polished patient encounter notes that will also be sent to referring MDs.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Must be able to anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of clinic.
  • Must be discreet, tactful, and unobtrusive in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care.
  • Must be available whenever physician is working.
  • All other duties as required.

Requirements


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from MA program or LPN program.
  • One year in Medical Office setting.
  • Experience working with an EMR system.
