The National Runaway Safeline (NRS) is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to helping runaway and homeless youth. We provide crisis intervention, information, and referrals to youth and their families 24/7, 365 days a year through our hotline, live chat, text, email, and online forums. Based in Chicago, we serve communities nationwide. Our mission is to keep youth safe and prevent homelessness through compassionate support and critical resources.
Position Summary:
The Grants Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the financial sustainability of NRS by managing the grant lifecycle, including identifying, applying for, securing, and reporting on grants. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in nonprofit grants management. The Grants Manager will work closely with the Chief Engagement Officer and other departments to align grant proposals with organizational goals and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Grant Research and Proposal Development:
- Identify new funding opportunities from government, foundation, and corporate sources that align with NRS’s mission.
- Develop and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports to funders.
- Collaborate with leadership and program teams to create proposals that align with strategic priorities.
· Grant Management and Compliance:
- Manage the full grant lifecycle from award to post-award, ensuring adherence to all funding requirements.
- Track and monitor grant deliverables, budgets, and reporting deadlines.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of progress reports and final reports to funders, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
· Financial Oversight and Reporting:
- Work with the finance department to monitor grant budgets and ensure funds are spent in accordance with grant guidelines.

- Develop and maintain accurate records of grant activities, including expenditures and deliverables.
- Provide regular reports on the status of grant funding and projections for future opportunities.
· Relationship Management:
- Cultivate relationships with existing funders to maintain and grow NRS’s grant portfolio.
- Serve as a liaison between NRS and grant-making organizations, responding to inquiries and providing updates on funded programs.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in grants management, preferably in a nonprofit or social services setting.
- Proven track record of securing government and foundation grants.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive grant proposals.
- Knowledge of grant management best practices, including compliance and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grants management software.
- Commitment to NRS’s mission of supporting youth and families in crisis.
Compensation:
Full-time salary: $68,000–$72,000/year with a comprehensive benefits package.
