Sunflower Bank is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management for our company sitting in Kansas. 


Summary

The Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management is responsible for overseeing the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Operational Risk Management (ORM) programs. This position focuses on building and maintaining excellence, making the programs a competitive advantage for the Company and helping to sustain a strong risk culture within the organization. The individual will also have the accountability to oversee and perform risk identification, assessments, monitoring, and mitigation activities, and is responsible for aligning operations within the position’s purview into the Company’s overall business strategy. This role will also work closely and collaboratively with peers, executives, and respective Risk Committees.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct and develop the strategic aspects of the ERM and ORM programs. The effort includes oversight of policies and procedures, validate first line of defense governance documents and performance is acceptable, note observations in alignment with second and third line of defense guidelines; support the development of controls, as necessary; and periodically evaluate controls to ensure risks are properly mitigated and controls are operating effectively.
  • Establish and maintain ERM and ORM program frameworks that are cohesive and consistent among the three lines of defense; risk appetite and risk tolerance guidelines; risk metrics and indicators; and periodic and consolidated risk reporting to the Enterprise Risk Management Committee and Board Risk Committee.
  • Oversee and maintain a proactive communication program with Executive Management.
  • Monitors, analyze and prepare reporting of risks within the Company’s business units as well as assist in the preparation of regulatory reports.
  • Creates and disseminates risk measurements and reports (ERM dashboards and related committee dashboards) and works with risk owners to understand, quantify, and respond to the reported data.
  • Communicates to key stakeholders regarding the risk profile of the business.
  • Leads model risk management for the Company including documentation and management of the model inventory.
  • Administer the product development assessment and documentation program to ensure initiatives are implemented to maintain operational excellence and are within risk tolerance.
  • Maintains and leads the Third-Party Risk Management program, including the onboarding, monitoring and management of third-parties and supports contract review and negotiation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent
  • 10 years of experience working in a risk management or internal audit role at a large company
  • 5 years of experience managing professional staff
  • Professional risk-related certification such as CERP, CRCM, CIA or CRMP
  • Embody a solution-focused perspective with ability to proactively offer strategic recommendations
  • Good negotiation skills and ability to resolve conflict between teams/individuals so that functional/organizational objectives are achieved.
  • Provides internal customers with consultative and friendly service
  • Excellent critical and strategic thinker with the ability to effectively communicate and influence at the highest levels of the organization.
  • Must be bondable 
  • Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.
  • Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
  • Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.

Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
