Position Summary

Administer a Pep Band program that adheres to all University, Horizon League, and NCAA rules and regulations while providing a safe and accepting environment for students to grow and develop academically, athletically and one which encourages personal responsibility, sportsmanship and service to others.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that the Pep Band consists of at least twenty-five (25) members and that no less than fifteen (15) members will be present when performing at all men’s and women’s basketball games. 
  2. Hold try-outs early during the fall semester for new members. 
  3. Hold scheduled practices three (3) times per week beginning when classes start and ending after the last home men’s or women’s basketball game is played. 
  4. Assist the Dance Team in learning new music, the UDM Fight Song and other methods to become more involved during the basketball game. 
  5. Meet with the Director of Marketing on a weekly basis during the school year and on a monthly basis during the off season (May – August). 
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education – A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
  • Employment – Six months to two years (Equivalent combination of education and employment).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Well polished communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be able to drive 15 passenger vans.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

Job requires repetitively lifting light weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities.


Work Environment

Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
