Description

Responsible for the daily operational management of the Billing Department, patient billing record integrity, and related functions. Possesses expert knowledge of FQHC industry standards and trends and keeps up to date with changes. Collaborates with other departments to improve the revenue cycle to achieve revenue and reporting goals.

Duties Include:

  • Manages billing procedures and staff productivity and performance. Ensures that services are billed accurately, promptly, efficiently, and consistently. Works within organizational guidelines to achieve and maintain compliance with payers, grantors, and regulators.
  • Works with EMR Manager to maintain EMR/EPM procedures and diagnosis codes for claims and reporting purposes.
  • Maintains and develops EHR claims processes to meet payer needs.
  • Creates processing goals for billing team, monitors progress, and collaborates with the team to identify and address obstacles to meeting goals.
  • Collaborates with other department staff, such as Receptionists, PFS, providers, CFO, Director of Finance (DOF), and others as necessary, to educate in proper revenue cycle processing, streamline existing processes, and develop new processes when needed. Attends meetings to present issues and best practices.
  • Reviews metrics and trend details with the CFO to identify and prioritize projects and training opportunities. Works with Sr. Medical Biller to develop and implement plans for addressing.
  • Leads and directs the participation of appropriate staff for revenue cycle initiatives in the design, development and implementation of projects and programs.
  • Ensures credit balances and undistributed credits are resolved monthly.
  • Develops tools to track financial performance and outcomes to present to various leaders to identify and respond to areas of opportunity.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of four years’ experience or equivalent experience in health care setting, demonstrating an increase in scope of responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer/PC literate: Excel, Window, MS Office environments.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Coder
  • OCHIN Epic experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Salary Description
$81,009 to $137,823 per year, DOE
