Description

Alaska Northstar Federal is currently seeking a DevOps Expert III to join our high-powered team for a long-term, fully remote opportunity supporting a DoD program with the US Air Force. The DevOps Expert III will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: 

  • Builds, scripts, tests, and deploys Infrastructure as Code and cloud native API commands via automation/orchestration using tools such as JSON, Ansible, DSL, Python, Jenkins, Chef, and Terraform.  
  • Writes IaC for both cloud native service deployment and for hosted application deployment to cloud services (AWS Elastic Beanstalk, AWS Lambda, Azure App Services).  
  • Provides cloud service expertise to cloud-deployed applications, assisting application developers with integrating application-specific components into available cloud services.  
  • Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of IaC when necessary, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of IaC intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.  
  • Works within Agile SDLC framework to include performing work activity within two- to three-week sprints, participating in daily scrums, and utilizing sprint tracking software to track and communicate individual work activity to stakeholders.

Candidate minimum requirements

Candidate must be US Citizen

Candidate must have an active DoD Secret Clearance at minimum

Candidate must have active CompTIA Security+ CE or other applicable active 8570 IAT Level II Certification

Candidate must have 15+ years experience with the following:

  • Secure enclave architecture and deployment.   
  • Infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).   
  • Managing and facilitating system governance processes, including ticket queue management, governance request prioritization, and SLA management. 
  • Scoping, work breakdown, and cost estimation for new system capabilities, onboarding and migration efforts. 
  • KPIs and metrics for infrastructure (e.g., CPU usage, network throughput) and security (e.g., access logs, intrusion detection). 
  • Implement security monitoring techniques, including anomaly detection and threat analysis. 
  • Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe). 
  • Configuring Jira workflows, boards, and issue tracking for Agile SDLC processes. 
  • DevOps pipelines and practices (CI/CD) to enhance the continuous delivery of code and system improvements. 
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, including senior leadership, technical teams, and governance bodies. 
  • Document and communicate technical and governance outcomes clearly and concisely. 
  • Team collaboration skills to work across departments and with Capability Delivery Teams (CDTs). 
  • Managing tickets, facilitating meetings, and leading team efforts for smooth onboarding, migration, and governance processes. 
  • Align software development and system engineering practices with federal regulatory requirements, including audit readiness and documentation. 
  • FIAR and FISCAM

 

Desired skills (not required)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with setting up and managing Impact Level (IL) 2, IL4, and IL5 environments (DoD Cloud and security standards).  
  • Skills in facilitating the onboarding and migration of CDTs, including requirement gathering, complexity scoring, and task management.   
  • Proficiency in conducting TIMs and managing migration task lifecycles.   
  • Experience designing and maintaining real-time dashboards for system operations and security monitoring using the ELK Stack.
  • Experience creating compliance monitoring dashboards for FIAR and FISCAM readiness. 
  • Proficiency in integrating tools (e.g., Jira, Bitbucket) with DevOps workflows to support collaborative development. 
  • Strong In-depth understanding of FIAR (Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness) and FISCAM (Federal Information Systems Control Audit Manual) compliance requirements.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

$160,000 - $185,000
