We’re currently growing our team of Artisans with a Director of Operations - Upstream. This role is responsible for the planning and execution of work and leadership over employees within an assigned territory while exemplifying RTI’s Mission and Core Behaviors.


Duties & Responsibilities


1. Lead Client engagement from project inception through lessons learned. Develop relationships and regularly interface with clients’ maintenance, operations, engineering, and turnaround teams.

2. Coordinate with Directors of Business Development for:

· Planning schedules

· Chemistry allocation for projects

· Staffing requirements

· Presentations

3. Coordinate with Mechanical Team for continuous improvement of mechanical delivery and processes that serve the Upstream market including:

· New equipment designs

· Repair, maintenance, and reliability

· Logistics and delivery

4. Participate and lead reviews of client shutdown procedures to improve on clearing plans and integrate RTI cleaning procedures.

5. Manage assigned Operations Specialists:

· Conduct semi-annual Ops Specialist performance reviews.

· Prioritize Ops Specialist workload for planning and execution responsibilities.

· Facilitate work/life balance discussions.

· Review and approve Ops Specialist vacation requests, expense reports, stipends, etc.

· Challenge Ops Specialist with assignments and continuing education responsibilities

· Serve as a lead for training new Operations Specialists and Operations Technicians

· Facilitate development and implementation of new training programs

6. Review all chemical cleaning plans for projects assigned to team members.

7. Manage deliverables schedules for project plans assigned to team members.

8. Lead REDI reviews for all projects assigned to team members.

9. Provide in-field chemical cleaning supervision for key projects when able.

10. Perform as Execution Lead Ops Spec on cleaning projects as necessary.

11. Manage project schedules: Ops Spec and Ops Tech arrival and departure times, logistics, etc.

12. Evaluates safety performance of direct reports on a regular basis.

13. Ensures that effective SWAPs and JSAs are completed and reviewed.

14. Provides onsite safety liaison for projects in his/her control.

15. Completes Incident Reports and participates in cause findings and corrective action.

16. Communicates weekly and incidental Safety Briefs with direct reports.

17. Communicates all safety notifications upward and downward through his/her organization.


Supervisory Responsibilities


· Conduct semi-annual Ops Spec performance reviews.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications


· A minimum of five years process engineering or operations at a refinery, chemical plant or upgrader.

· Must be familiar with operations of refineries, chemical plants or upgraders. Able to:


o Be comfortable meeting with client leadership

o Confidently lead a team of Operations Managers that plan and execute work,

o Become very familiar with RTI technologies,

o Communicate clearly and effectively,

o Efficiently and effectively handle multiple activities at one time,

o Quickly and thoroughly review cleaning plans,

o Perform project planning and execution on occasion.


Working Conditions / Physical Demands


The Company requires passing a pre-employment physical in which an objective medical professional will determine whether you can safely meet the physical demands of the position.


Duration of Workhours During Project Executions:

  • Typically, 12 continuous hours that may extend up to 16 – 18 hours if an emergency need exists, for up to 14 days in a row.
  • Day shift and/or night shift.

Working Conditions During Project Executions:

  • Projects often are Offshore requiring travel to, and stays aboard, offshore Oil & Gas platforms.
  • Uneven or unstable ground, and wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces and footings.
  • Outside locations in extreme temperatures and weather conditions including wind, rain, snow, and other forms of inclement weather.
  • Routine, intermittent exposure to noise more than 85 dBA-TWA.
  • Environments that may necessitate the use of respiratory protection for the shift duration.
  • Half-face, full-face, and/or supplied air.
  • Medical clearance to use respiratory protection is required.
  • Quantitative fit testing for specific respiratory protection is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Work at heights up to 150 ft/ 45m accessed via stairs, climbing ladders, or critical lifts by cranes. This requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs without issue.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 40lbs., without assistance.
  • Pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs., without assistance.
  • Standing and walking for up to 12 to 16 hours daily with minimal rest breaks. May exceed 10,000 to 15,000 steps per day.
  • Bending and stooping repeatedly and performing tasks including twisting or turning valves and using wrenches and hand tools.

Travel Requirements


Ability to travel and spend 50-70 nights away from home in a year.
