GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide a secure work environment for the employees of the Space Needle and to safeguard the assets of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Proactively implement the security plan and operations of the Space Needle.
- Ensure that key and card access controls are followed.
- Prepare daily log on a daily basis.
- Back up all databases electronic and hard copy.
- Provide a strong presence in retail areas, being careful to observe and report shoplifting activities.
- Rove and patrol the premises to ensure the safety of the Space Needle, its guests and employees.
- Ensure that the DVR, Cameras and any other security hardware are working properly.
- Review DVR periodically for potential for potential problems or breeches of security.
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Able to work within a team milieu.
- Complete incident reports and time sheets on a daily basis.
- Remain current with the literature and trends of the security field.
- Maintain good relations with Seattle Center Security and Seattle Police Department.
- Properly investigate any internal theft issues.
- Be reachable at all times by radio while on duty.
- Assist Guest Safety and Facilities Manager and departments as needed.
- Provide assistance to other employees to enhance customer service or assist in emergencies.
- Operate the fire panel and fire system.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cooperate with Seattle Police Department and Seattle Center police.
- Knowledge of all locations of water shut offs and how to operate them.
- Assist with disaster preparedness: i.e., earthquakes, fires and other crises.
- Occasionally walk employees to their cars.
- Accompany terminated employees to collect their belongings, retrieve company property and if necessary, escort them from the property.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Formal self-defense training and/or willingness to learn if required and provided by the employer.
- Experience with security – civilian or military.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear, detailed and accurately written reports in a timely manner.
- Ability to operate two-way radio, communications and surveillance system equipment.
- Ability to operate multi-line telephone systems under busy or stressful situations while multi-tasking.
- First Aid/CPR Certification or ability/willingness to obtain certification within sixty days of hire.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Excellent computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and other databases as required.
- Be able to learn in-house security access card system.
- Confident, with the ability to defuse hostile situations with verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Be able to lift 50lbs with the ability to perform physical activities inherent to security patrol duties, such as bending, walking, running, standing, and rapidly ascending or descending stairs in a high-rise structure as needed.
Full Time, Hourly Position
Hourly Rate: $21.32 - $24.32 / hour (Wage of $24.32 based on completing 6 training certifications in your first 90 days of employment)
