Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Corporate Controller at Platinum Storage Group located in Newport Beach, CA. This is a hands-on role and encompasses a wide variety of responsibilities including but not limited to overseeing accounting staff, preparing internal and external financial statements and reports, managing month-end and year-end reporting, communicating with owners (TIC) & investors. This position focuses on P&L, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
Essential Functions
- Lead all day-to-day operations and supervise a team of staff members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
- Monthly financial review for all properties and have monthly meetings with field personnel
- Review all monthly distributions for third party properties
- Prepare and provide all financial data required by lenders for new financing as well as monthly and annual debt covenant compliance
- Liaison with third party investors regarding all financial questions and distribution of reports and K-1’s
- Responsible with on-boarding and off- boarding of properties (owned and managed)
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior management abreast of financial status
- Coordinate corporate and property tax returns with owners and third-party accounting firms
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures and internal controls surrounding accounting functions
- Monitor cash positions & funding needs
- Assist with debt financing
- Coordinate software integration with all third-party vendors (Yardi, Tenant Information System, Payroll Processing Software, Ramp)
- Treasury functions
- Ensure that the systems and procedures in place to conduct an audit if required
- Assist the VP of Operations with the annual budgeting and planning process
- Serve as backup for payroll processing
Other Functions
- Coach and provide training opportunities for staff development including managing accounts payable and property accountants
- Contribute to a positive work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Active CPA certification, preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum Five (5) years of experience in multi-unit accounting, in real estate preferred
- Knowledge of GAAP accrual accounting
- Previous experience using YARDI preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications required
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Possesses finesse and discretion for responding to sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to protect organizations' value by keeping information confidential
- Communicate effectively in English, both written & verbally
Salary Description
$120,000 - $150,000 annually
