JOB SUMMARY: Excelerate Energy UAE is seeking an experienced Accountant to support our growing business, primarily in the MENA region and Europe, with potential responsibilities extending to other global regions. This full-time position is based in Dubai, UAE.


As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Houston Accounting Management team and the Vice President of the MENA Region to shape and enhance our accounting operations, ensuring they align with the needs of our expanding business in MENA, Europe, and beyond.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following activities:


Perform monthly closing of accounts including journal posting, accruals, and other financial entries in accordance with both International GAAP and US GAAP. Prepare and translate local financial accounts from IFRS to US GAAP and make sure all are aligned with the internal controls and global accounting process.

  • Monthly Close: Actively participate in the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, accruals, and posting financial data. Perform account reconciliations in accordance with both International GAAP and US GAAP. Ensure compliance with company policies related to closing procedures, timelines, and account reconciliation standards. Provide financial analysis and decision-making support to local and regional management.
  • Finance Operations: Contribute to core finance functions, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end financial close activities.
  • Financial Reporting Conversion: Convert financial accounts from IFRS to US GAAP based on statutory financials. Monitor and ensure proper mapping between the statutory chart of accounts and the US chart of accounts.
  • US GAAP Reporting & MENA/Europe Compliance: Ensure timely submission of all US GAAP reporting requirements to the US Corporate Office while meeting MENA/Europe/other regions tax and local statutory obligations.
  • Third-Party Management: Oversee third-party service providers, ensuring alignment with internal controls and global accounting processes.


Responsible on timely Invoicing process of various revenue streams and support on supplier’s payment process and communication.

  • Revenue Recognition & Invoicing: Ensure timely recognition and invoicing of various revenue streams, including regas services, gas sales, and other income sources. 
  • Accounts Payable Support: Assist and support team with invoices posting and reviewing activity for completeness. Handle payment related vendor queries and communicate with back-office team in Houston.
  • Accounts Receivable Support: Working with the Ops team on the rebillable costs and prepare monthly OM Rebillable Track sheet and coordinate with Houston team the creation of invoices on SAP. Upload invoices on client’s supplier portals and assist on the payment follow up and collection process.

Handle monthly reconciliation of accounts including intercompany transactions. Prepare monthly Variance Analyses reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of reports.

  • Intercompany & Cash Management: Review intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Assist in resolving intercompany differences and maintaining accurate reconciliations.
  • GAAP Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of account balances between IFRS and US GAAP, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable/receivable balances from subledger to general ledger and conduct aging analysis. This includes Intercompany (IC) reconciliations.


Assist in preparation and submission of the monthly, quarterly, annual tax filing which includes VAT, WHT and CIT and other filing compliance such as ESR.

  • Tax and Other Compliance: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings, ensuring adherence to local tax regulations (VAT (UAE), CIT (UAE & QATAR), WHT(Pakistan), VAT Finland, among others. Assist in submission of UAE annual (ESR)Economic Substance Report Notification compliance.

Support the monthly, quarterly and annual audit including preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory reporting.

  • Statutory Audits & Financial Statements: Manage the processes and deliverables for statutory audits and financial statements, ensuring compliance with local regulations. This includes the ICV (In-Country Certification) audit.
  • Audit Support: Provide support for monthly, quarterly, and annual audits. Collaborate with subsidiary controllers to meet statutory audit requirements.

Ensure adaptation of the new accounting standards and compliance of company processes, procedures and internal controls.

  • Compliance & SOX Control Framework: Ensure UAE, Europe subsidiaries operate within a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)-compliant control framework. This includes preparing journal entries, vendor payments, and assisting with the transition from outsourced local accounting/tax firms.
  • New Accounting Standards Implementation: Assist in the adoption of new accounting standards and contribute to budget preparation, presentations, and ad hoc executive management requests.

Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities and perform financial analysis of actual results against the budget.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including cash flow projections. Conduct variance analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Collaborate and support other functional teams (Corporate and Regional) to achieve business objectives and organizational goals.

  • Corporate Function Support: Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, and other corporate functions in the development of accurate budgets, forecasts, and management reports.
  • Regional Business Support: Work closely with other functional teams (e.g., Commercial, Operations, Supply Chain, Treasury and Administration) within MENA, Europe and beyond, to help achieve broader business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with other departments to harmonize reporting requirements, close compliance gaps, and ensure alignment with local tax authorities.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Support additional projects in the MENA, Europe or any other region around the world, or duties as assigned, contributing to broader organizational goals.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required
  • MUST have Minimum of 3+ years of professional accounting experience in UAE
  • Experience in financial reporting under US GAAP and IFRS, with a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, particularly SOX 404.
  • Knowledge of UAE tax regulations and compliance.
  • Prior experience in Public Accounting is a significant advantage.
  • Proficiency with SAP accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Track record of multitasking and working collaboratively within a small team, in multicultural and multinational environment.
