The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented entry-level Proposal Writer to join our team in the Government Software Industry. As a Proposal Writer, you will play a crucial role in developing winning proposals that showcase our software solutions and services to government clients. The Proposal Writer must handle multiple revisions, edit and re-edit proposals as needed, and ensure proposals maintain a consistent tone and voice. This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under occasional pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
What You Will Do
- Seek out, evaluate, and respond to relevant Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
- Understand and interpret complex solicitation documents, including Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other government procurement documents.
- Coordinate and manage the entire proposal development process, including organizing proposal kick-off meetings, establishing timelines, assigning tasks to team members, and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales teams, subject matter experts, and executive leadership, to develop and write high-quality proposals for government clients. Communicate effectively with team members to gather necessary inputs and ensure alignment between the proposal strategy and organizational goals.
- Write clear, concise, and persuasive content for proposals, including executive summaries, technical approaches, solution descriptions, implementation plans, pricing, and other relevant sections.
- Maintain version control, track changes, and perform quality checks to deliver polished and error-free proposals.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of proposal content, including past proposals, boilerplate materials, and case studies. Continuously update and refine the content library to improve efficiency and ensure accurate and up-to-date information for future proposals.
- Conduct thorough research on government agencies, their specific needs, industry trends, and regulations. Analyze and synthesize gathered information to develop a deep understanding of the client's requirements and tailor proposals accordingly.
- Enhance proposal templates as needed to conform with multiple products and brands.
- Provide input on effective marketing techniques for proposal presentation.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent editing and proofing skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven environment
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Government sales or other relevant government experience
- Software (SaaS application) industry experience
- Proficient in proposal management tool (Loopio, RFPIO, RFP360, or similar)
- Proficient in CRM tool (Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
- Experience working in Adobe Pro
