About the role:
Position Summary:
As a publishing company in Higher Education for Nursing and the Health Professions, FA Davis must develop and release effective, flexible, up-to-date interactive courseware that helps students learn and understand key concepts, and allows faculty to manage and track student progress, as well as modify content and functionality to meet their needs. The Digital Solutions Project Manager will work in a rapidly changing industry and environment to manage multiple online products and platforms that address these student and faculty needs. This role will interact with a variety of key stakeholders to manage projects (and products) through the product life cycle – from concept, through development, to final release, and then to assist with ongoing maintenance and QA. The right candidate will also recognize product and market trends, understand risks inherent in project scheduling and budgeting, and with the help of an interdepartmental team, apply this knowledge to F.A. Davis digital products and their development. This position interacts with Director of Digital Solutions, Exec Dir, Product Solutions, offshore vendors, business analysts, as well as F.A. Davis Digital Strategy, Editorial, Marketing, Sales, Content Solutions, and Customer Service Departments.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
- 3+ years of publishing experience preferred
- Proven track record of managing complex projects through detailed development life cycles, seeing them through to successful completion
- Project management and problem-solving skills to handle complex technology solutions in balance with business needs
- Confident communication skills, including the ability to discuss software development items with vendors and in-house staff
- Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills
- Collaborative spirit with a willingness to place team, company, and customer success ahead of personal accolades
- Knowledge and competence in using Internet, media, and mobile software
- Understanding of MS Office Suite (including MS Project & Teams), Adobe Product Suite, Acrobat
- Familiar with video, audio, and media format standards
- Understanding of Atlassian JIRA and Confluence or similar ticketing and PM systems
- Comfortable with web-based product design and development
- Familiar with concepts of Instructional Design
- Competent with Agile and Waterfall product development methodology
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Digital Strategy, Editorial, Business Analysts, Production, and Marketing to develop and define roadmap, goals, content, and requirements for core online products
- Develop product Software Requirement Specifications and Software Change Request documentation in partnership with F.A. Davis Business Analyst and Business System Team
- Collaborate with Director of Digital Solutions, Digital Strategy, MIS, BSA, Support Specialist, and Marketing on the maintenance of online products and core software framework
- Work with Digital Strategy team to arrive at wireframe and prototype needs for future Editorial Board proposals
- Work with outside vendors for development of digital products and services from concept through product release
- Develop and regularly cost estimates and schedules for assigned projects
- Maintain project schedules in F.A. Davis MPP system; monitor progress and costs
- Interact with Digital Strategy, editorial, project managers, and content solutions personnel for content delivery and coordinate delivery of assets to vendors
- Work with Digital Strategy, vendors, Digital Publishing staff, and Marketing to arrive at user interface and graphical design elements
- Keep apprised of competing publishers’ digital platform services and mobile products
- Lead and coordinate efforts on maintenance releases across various FAD platforms
- Understand top 10 users of each product
- Conduct regular meetings with Digital Strategy, Editorial, and DIT stakeholders regarding assigned products
- Conduct regular meetings with Customer Support to understand any needs or concerns
- Development
- Coordinate weekly calls with offshore vendor on product development
- Arrange posting of completed services to live environment
- Perform user acceptance testing on new digital framework services
- Direct data conversion with vendors where necessary to expedite creation of digital products
- Miscellaneous
- Cross-train and collaborate with staff as needed for content and development items
- Assist Marketing and Sales as needed on various FAD platform services
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience

- High-speed internet access (at least 25 mbps download and 5 mbps upload) that must be reliable, available, accessible, and secure to successfully work from home.
