Overall scope: The Forsyth Fellows Program is recruiting highly talented, exceptional scholars who have recently completed their graduate work and have demonstrated a strong commitment to innovative research. The Forsyth Institute, a Harvard-affiliated independent research organization, is a leader in oral research, and located in Kendall Square, Cambridge, known as epicenter of biomedical research and innovation. Forsyth Fellows will be supported through internal funding and mentoring to conduct their elected independent research direction, in line with the Forsyth mission.
Expectations: Individuals are recruited based on demonstrated excellence as independent thinkers, outstanding motivation, and ability to formulate and communicate their scientific ideas and vision. Fellows will be supported and encouraged in the pursuit of pioneering research leveraging the multi-disciplinary setting and ongoing activities within Forsyth and the surrounding scientific communities.
Program: The Forsyth Fellows Program is a mentored program with a three-year committed support of $75,000 stipend and $25,000 supplies per year in addition to access to institutional equipment and core facilities. Upon start, a primary mentor will facilitate the assembly of a scientific advisory committee to provide the Fellow with guidance for a successful research path. The Fellow will be provided with an office and through the primary mentor with laboratory space, access to key laboratory equipment and required resources at the Forsyth Institute.
Eligibility: Participants must have a research degree (e.g., PhD or equivalent). Applicants must be within the first 18 months of completion of the graduate work at the time of starting the fellowship. The candidates must be committed to developing into independent investigators in research areas relevant to the mission of the Forsyth Institute.
Evaluation and Selection: Candidates will be evaluated based on their 1) academic credentials; 2) projected research plan and research interests; 3) commitment to research career and academic promise; 4) stated commitment to a full completion of fellowship program.
