Description

The Head of Strategic Marketing and Business Development is instrumental in shaping the company's revenue growth trajectory and informing product and service innovation to achieve sustainable, organic growth and enhanced profitability. This role will leverage data-driven market analysis to inform decisions pertaining to our go-to-market strategy, selection of target markets, oversight of tactical planning, and execution. Beyond ideation, this role will lead the analysis of customer behavior, market trends, and competitive landscapes. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Spearheads the development of go-to-market strategies (new and organic) to achieve our revenue goals (short- and long-term).  Accountable for applicable financial budgets, forecasts, and results.
  • Plans and oversees marketing communications. Identifies messaging to effectively reach customers in target markets. Adjusts efforts to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Leads our overall advertising efforts to create demand and promote our products and services to potential customers and refines our unique value proposition messaging. 
  • Ensures our online brand and presence are visible and appealing to potential customers including search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Facilitates relevant information gathering, business case development, and maintaining competitive intelligence across portfolio of products and services.
  • Oversees specialized staff with expertise in traditional marketing and sales functions.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, economics, or a related field is typically required.
  • Over 10 years of progressive and relevant industry experience in sales, marketing, business development, strategy, or related roles.  
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth through forging strategic partnerships, strategy development and execution, and expanding market/brand presence.
  • Familiarity with technology solutions relevant to the industry, such as customer relationship management (CRM) software, automation tools, and analytics platforms.
  • Deep expertise of financial principles and metrics related to revenue generation, profit margins, and ROI analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft PowerPoint. Proficient in all use of social media platforms.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data, financial reports, and performance metrics to make informed decisions.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to identify and leverage key stakeholders and influencers.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including the capacity to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with clients, negotiate contracts, and present proposals effectively.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a proactive and creative approach to overcoming obstacles and seizing opportunities.
  • Ability to develop recommendations based on analysis and lead teams and drive to decisions.  

Preferred Qualifications

  •  MBA or advanced degree
  • Specialized expertise in technology-driven products and services 
  • Open to expertise gained in consulting or investment banking (PE or VC)
