Child Support Case Manager

The 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s office is seeking a full time Child Support Case Manager to support our team. 


The employee will perform a variety of tasks to include enhancing the Assistant District Attorney’s effectiveness and insures successful completion of court actions by providing information management support. The employee will prepare quality legal documents while maintaining confidentiality of the case and file materials. The employee will insure that service of process and obtain waivers of service if possible. The employee will educate and communicate with parties on child support matters on the intake dockets in St. Tammany. The employee will assist with docket management during court proceedings through interaction with attorney, minute clerk, parties, private attorneys, public defender and hearing officer. Service of process duties will also include preparation, processing and follow-up as to long-arm service needed for all docketed St. Tammany cases whether service is via certified mail or by assignment to out-of-state process server (sheriff/constable or private process server).

Essential Job Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

· Perform case processing entry work utilizing Louisiana state child support systems, including Café, LASES, LASESweb, and OnBase both prior to and following court hearings.

· Utilize Microsoft ACCESS database, Dropbox, Accurint (locate purposes), Microsoft Word, Excel, Work Number, and any other technology tools required to prepare cases for court hearings.

· Review legal documents for completeness, adequacy, accuracy and compliance with local, state and federal statues and court rules and child support court procedures and determine processing required and takes necessary action in accordance with court rules, statutes, and child support court procedures.

· Initiate, schedule, prepare and process pleadings filed with the court.

· Assure confidentiality in compliance with state and federal statutes and court rules.

· Handle all requests for information on procedures and specific child support case information from the public, both in person and via telephone for child support actions.

· Obtain information from other state child support agencies as needed, including updated affidavits of arrears.

· All actions necessary to insure all parties are present in court for child support hearings.

· Conduct locate functions as needed for parties in child support court proceedings and coordinating service of process with process servers/outside law enforcement agencies.

· Communicate and obtain needed information from DCFS child support case managers as needed to insure successful handling of cases in court.

· Update direct pay affidavits with custodial parents prior to court.

· Prepare UIFSA transmittals as needed and respond to status requests from other states as required.

· Insure that all cases set for each court date are included in dockets prepared by Clerk of Court and service of process properly issued.

· Insure that all service affidavits and other documents are properly filed in order to allow for confirmation of defaults in long-arm service cases.

· Staff dockets with Assistant District Attorney prior to court.

· Take further actions as directed following court hearings to insure that additional information needed to process the case is obtained or other steps needed taken before the next court date.

· Insure that all cases reset from original court date are properly docketed.

· Preparation of correspondence as directed.

· Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, court procedures and policies, rules, statutes and procedures pertaining to the court or area of assignment.

· Ability to work in a fast paced, detailed, high volume work environment and adapt to constant change.

· Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse group of court stakeholders, including parties to child support cases, the hearing officers and judges handling child support matters, DCFS case analysts/supervisors, the public defender’s office, and clerk of court personnel in person and on the phone.

· Ability to handle conflict, sensitive matters, emotional and irritated customers, and diverse clientele.

· Ability to make work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and state policies and procedures.

· Ability to work under pressure assuring timelines and accuracy.

· Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing, as well as understand and follow oral and written instructions.

· Ability to take direction and maintain a professional and positive attitude through challenging circumstances.

· Ability to perform court work both quickly and accurately and to focus on priority tasks while keeping track of multiple simultaneous duties.

· Ability to effectively prioritize and manage competing demands and meet deadlines.

· Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, including collaborating with others as needed.

· Ability to learn, adapt and utilize new technology; including but not limited to document management.

· Demonstrated proficiency in Word/Word Perfect, Excel, ACCESS, Outlook and other computer software.

· Ability to utilize Dropbox to obtain electronic signatures as needed.

· Insuring that EFILES for each court date are kept up-to-date and contain all information needed by the ADAs handling court proceedings.

 Physical Requirements which include but are not limited to:

· Ability to raise or lower objects from one level or another (includes pushing and pulling) (10lbs – 25lbs)

· Ability to frequently bend and stoop

· Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time 

· Ability to read and write the English language

· Ability to have close and distance vision to see details of objects and use a computer

· Ability to hear in the normal audio range 

· Ability to be able to speak clearly so that others can understand them
