WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Senior Compliance Officer, Lending Compliance is a senior compliance position at the Bank and reports directly to the Director Compliance Program Oversight and Governance. You will work closely with the Compliance Leadership, other members of compliance, various bank departments, and Senior Management to provide strategic regulatory compliance advice and problem-solving expertise specific to lending compliance. The Senior Compliance Officer, Lending Compliance supports in maturing the Compliance Program, processes, technology, and reporting in support of the Bank’s growth strategy and risk.


Requirements

HOW YOU'LL DO IT

  • Serve as Bank’s subject matter expert on lending compliance laws and regulations and help to maintain the Bank’s Compliance Management system (CMS) that is demonstrated and executed throughout all levels of the organization. 
  • Lead efforts to monitor external resources for emerging regulatory compliance trends or changes to the compliance environment; determine applicability to Bank, including FinTech Partners and collaborate with Compliance Teams, business units/partners, and IT for effective planning implementation, and enhancement strategies.  
  • Independently research laws and regulations, investigate, and act on escalated lending compliance matters and when special requests or unique circumstances arise, including compliance complaint escalations. 
  • Collaborate on issue management remediation action plans, validate issue resolution efforts, perform effective challenge, and document actions in GRC tool. 
  • Develop, revise, and implement documentary guidance to support internal team reviews of marketing artifacts, policies, procedures, and disclosures. 
  • Manage the development and recommend approval of lending compliance programs and policies, ensuring that standards, procedures, and guidelines comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Bank’s risk appetite, tolerances, and policies. 
  • Manage the development of compliance training and perform compliance training course reviews. 
  • Perform and oversee maintenance of compliance risk library in GRC tool to support annual and ongoing risk assessment activities.
  • As needed, liaise with external parties such as Federal or State bank examiners, external auditors, and outside consulting firms regarding the Company’s compliance function. 
  • Support the collection of information for regulatory examinations and compliance-related audits related to lending compliance; conduct post-examination follow up, prepare responses to examination and audit reports, and oversee corrective actions. 
  • Provide internal service in accordance with Coastal Core Values.
  • Because we are a rapidly changing organization, there will be other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial services and lending compliance laws and regulations, including Regulation B – Equal Credit Opportunity Act; Regulation Z - Truth in Lending Act; Regulation V – Fair Credit Reporting Act; Regulation X – Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act; E-Sign Act; Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA).  
  • Exceptional ability to read, analyze and interpret governmental laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance and exercise strong investigative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills and ability to provide workable recommendations and solutions.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and perform complex analytical work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to diplomatically and concisely summarize issues, articulate complex concepts clearly, create reports effectively, and interact with variety of individuals within all levels of the department and the financial institution, including senior and executive leadership.
  • Must possess initiative, be a self-starter, have exceptional organizational skills and a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain functional regulatory compliance knowledge through research, training and/or coursework.  
  • Superior dedication to integrity, producing high quality results, and meeting deadlines. 
  • Willing to follow and comply with all applicable regulatory compliance laws. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Products. Can build proficiency in other software solutions used by the Compliance group.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • 10+ years of direct experience in lending compliance roles in the financial services industry. Community and commercial banking experience is a plus. 
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation preferred.  
  • Leadership and people management experience in compliance, risk management, or audit, and regulatory examination processes and activities.

$123,010 - $147,612
