The responsibilities of the Maintenance Tech include: (this role will have a Saturday/Sunday workday component with two other days off during the week.)

  1. Responsible for assuring that the Hooverwood  complies with all local, State of Indiana and Federal regulations as applicable to nursing homes, or Hooverwood standards, whichever are higher. This shall include areas of sanitation, temperature control, fire safety, life safety code requirements, plumbing, heating/cooling/ventilation, outside grounds, lighting, alarm systems, electric, mechanical, painting, etc.
  2. Maintains all grounds including trash removal and snow/ice removal.
  3. Handle basic repairs and maintenance
  4. Completes all service request within 48-hours of the call
  5. Responsible for assuring projects performed and supplies purchased are of high quality and achieved at the lowest possible cost.
  6. Attends any in house committee meeting for which assigned.
  7. Respond to resident requests for service in a timely fashion and prioritizes requests.
  8. Identifies any situation which creates an unsafe working environment for employees, and either corrects on the spot or reports problem to Administration.
  9. Responsible for assuring resident beds, bathing systems, lifts, etc., are safe and meet facility requirements.
  10. Shall fully comply with all aspects of Hooverwood's Corporate Compliance Program and its Code of Conduct.
  11. Cannot pose a direct health or safety threat to others in the workplace.
  12. Responds immediately to any request for assistance, in the event of an institutional disaster or emergency.
  13. Assists in the movement of resident furniture when requested.
  14. Perform any other duties as may be seen fit by the Director of Maintenance Services or building administrator.
  15. Responsibilities may include weekend and after hours work as well as an on-call rotation with maintenance cellphone.
  16. Ability to log work digitally in TELS system on tablet/computer.
Requirements

Qualifications for the Maintenance Tech:


  • Stable work history
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years prior maintenance or "handy man" experience
  • Must be able to read, fully comprehend and work from electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
  • Must have reliable transportation and clean driving record/valid drivers license
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to work Saturday and Sunday as we are a 24/7, 365 days LTC facility


Physical or Mental Functions Required to Perform Job: 

  • Employee recognizes that the Maintenance Tech could be at risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens and is provided the opportunity to receive a 3 shot HBV immunization series if he/she may wish, immediately upon receipt of the job description.
  • Displays adequate knowledge and ability to work on low pressure steam systems, hot water systems, fresh water systems, sewage systems, boilers, HVAC, kitchen and laundry equipment, electric systems, pumps, motors, piping, etc.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and electric power tools and corresponding appropriate use.
  • Position requires extensive walking
  • Stooping/bending, Balancing, Kneeling, Squatting, Climbing 
  • ·Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
  •  Requires talking, seeing, and hearing with reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
