Mobis Technical Center of America has an immediate need for a HUD Optical Engineer to join its Infotainment Displays team in Plymouth, MI. The successful candidate will lead Optical Simulation in Code V per customer requirements, as well as physical simulation to verify the product is performing to specifications. Familiarity with conventional HUD optics, simulation, and design methodology is required. Experience with HUD Demonstrators setup in a test lab environment is preferred. This role will also work cross-functionally with other international HUD teams within Mobis to support ongoing development with other HUD, and projection projects.
• Create optical path simulation using Mechanical Design models from the PGU to the operator’s eyebox using Code V.
• Design Aspherical mirrors to focus optical path to correct FOV using CATIA V5 or NX.
• Design Combiner mirrors to reflect optical path in correct direction using CATIA V5 or NX.
• Work with the Mechanical Team to create strategies to optimize optical path issue mitigation, such as distortion, disparity, blurriness, and glare.
• Work with Tier-2 suppliers to understand new PGU technology and capture Optical Path tolerances, distances, and limitations, and translate into design requirements.
• Help to establish local lab environment for HUD physical testing.
Provide OEM customer with feedback on windshield design, curvature, wedge film, and thickness as it relates to HUD optics.
