Payroll Specialist

Description

ALTR is seeking a Payroll Specialist who will be responsible for processing and managing payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing:
    • Process payroll for employees accurately and on time.
    • Enter and verify payroll data, including timesheets, bonuses, deductions, and taxes.
    • Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee payroll issues.
  • Tax Compliance:
    • Calculate and deduct appropriate taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
    • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports to government agencies.
    • Stay updated with changes in payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee data, time and attendance records, and wage       details.
    • Prepare reports related to payroll, such as earnings statements and payroll summaries.
  • Employee Support:
    • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, including payment discrepancies, deductions, and benefits.
    • Assist with onboarding new employees regarding payroll and benefits procedures.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the HR department and accounting teams to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing.
    • Collaborate with management on budgeting and labor cost forecasting.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience as a payroll specialist or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and relevant laws.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Please note, this role is expected to be onsite full-time. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
  • Experience with benefits administration and HR policies.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Experience with timekeeping  systems and payroll tax filings.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
