POSITION SUMMARY
The Academic Specialist is responsible for providing oversight of the API Class library, managing and interpreting class data from accredited institutions in the US and abroad, and maintaining data integrity for enrollment, reporting and analytics purposes. The Class Specialist works closely with both product and programming teams and supports international operations with host university class management and timely updates. They maintain expert technical knowledge of class data and reporting tools in the Class Library and suggest refinements, modifications and enhancements to ensure it is best in class for all users.
The ideal candidate knows how to communicate and collaborate efficiently with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, from academics to software engineers. They are comfortable working with subject matter experts from a variety of disciplines and global backgrounds, including diverse cultural perspectives and working styles. They use finely honed organizational and project management skills in addition to troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve blockers. They possess a deep understanding of the US and global higher education systems and academic disciplines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight of the API Class Library (create);
- Manage academic class data from accredited institutions - domestic and international (read);
- Regularly update and provide QA for Class Library (update and delete); and
- Organize and project manage timely delivery of class information from institutional partners.

KEY EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field;
- 3-5 years of professional experience in higher education administration, advising, academic affairs, continuing/professional education or related field;
- Data or program management experience in complex organizations or university systems;
- Familiarity with complex degree plans, requirements and academic disciplines; and
- Familiarity with regional accreditation standards such as contact hours, credits + credit conversions, etc..
