Description

Pacifica Law Group is seeking an experienced litigation legal assistant to join its Litigation Practice Group. Pacifica was founded in 2011 and has grown to include over 60 experienced attorneys and professional support staff who work in the areas of municipal finance, public-private partnerships, litigation, appeals, public records, ethics, complex transactions, real estate, procurement, construction, school law and other areas of general municipal law for public and private sector clients.


Responsibilities

The position includes both administrative and litigation support responsibilities, including the ability to:

  • Format, proofread, and finalize detailed correspondence, pleadings, court forms, and other legal documents; prepare basic correspondence, presentations, and other time-sensitive, high-profile documents while ensuring consistency and accuracy of all.
  • Calculate and calendar court deadlines.
  • File pleadings in state and federal trial and appellate courts; communicate with court staff, as necessary; keep current with changes in court rules and electronic filing procedures.
  • Provide general office support for litigation attorneys: for example, scan and photocopy documents; manage calendars for multiple attorneys; prepare expense reports and submit invoices for payment; schedule travel; coordinate meetings, calls and conferences, which may include ordering meals and scheduling conference rooms.
  • Assist with CLE tracking and reporting, and bar association membership application and renewal in various states and jurisdictions.
  • Provide support for the firm’s monthly billing process, track attorney time records, and billing.
  • Set up new clients and matters in the billing system, and perform initial conflicts checks.
  • Establish and maintain paper and electronic filing systems; classify, sort and file correspondence, records, and other documents.
  • Perform general research and support activities to assist attorneys.
Requirements

3+ years of experience as a litigation legal assistant

  • High level of proficiency with Word, Outlook and Adobe; experience with Zoom, Excel and PowerPoint a plus
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work cooperatively as part of a team, as well as to work independently
  • Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, flexible and willing to learn new technology as needed

Salary Range

$70,000 - $90,000 base compensation. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including qualifications and depth of experience in the practice area.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm with some ability to adjust based on preference. This position can be either in person or hybrid with the option for remote work up to 2-3 days per week if in office work is not needed.
