The Accountant is responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions and supporting the Controller in financial reporting and presentation of the financial statements. The Accountant maintains the general ledger, prepares month-end close and owns all accounts payable and receivable processes.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities

- Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and comply with internal and external reporting deadlines
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness after month-end close
- Manage the customer billing and adhere to internal and external invoice submission deadlines
- Ensure accurate and timely recognition of revenue in compliance with ASC 606
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor and customer payments, respectively
- Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
- Manage outsourcing accountant, and foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment
- Manage the general communication coming to and from the accounting inbox
- Apply critical thinking to assess operational and accounting risk, and enforce internal controls in various areas
- Ad hoc tasks, such as support during tax preparation, budget, and other finance functions
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal tax laws, specifically sales & use tax
Qualifications & Competencies
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and an in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of state and federal tax laws, specifically sales and use tax
- Familiarity with basic HR processes
- Demonstrated understanding of financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Experience working in QuickBooks, Bill.com and Expensify
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially advanced skills in Excel
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Accountant will be responsible for supervising any junior accounting staff and 3rd party contractors used to assist in accounting functions
Travel Required
Up to 25% travel may be required
