Job Summary:

Assist the Lead Teacher in the educational care and development of a specific classroom by supporting curriculum that meets the needs of children based upon the age-appropriate standards defined in ITERS, ECERS, SAERS & CLASS Evaluation tools. Perform tasks required through the direction of the Lead Teacher to support High Quality learning for all students, parents & extended families. Collaborate with children, staff & families to assure High Quality early childhood education – Assist the Lead Teacher as requested Maintaining an internal review score of 6.0 for ITERS, ECERS or SAERS score Ensure your center maintains our current Race to the Top rating of Tier 5.


Summary of essential job functions

  • Responsible for supporting & assisting in the implementation of a rich curriculum which incorporates the California Foundations & Frameworks, The Creative Curriculum, Infant/Toddler Creative Curriculum, and PITC Curriculum. The Instructional Assistant will be responsible for using the CLASS tool to guide intentional teaching and meaningful engagement. The I.A. will support & assist in creating and maintaining the specific interest centers including Science, Math, Literacy & Language, Dramatic Play, Block Play, Sensory Play, Reading Corner & Soft Places for relaxing using ECERS guidelines.
  • Responsible to perform daily Classroom cleanliness routines that meet with all Health & Safety Guidelines as defined within ITERS, ECERS, SAERS & the External Health & Safety review report.
  • Responsible to support the Site Director & Teaching team as we all work together to ensure compliance with all Licensing regulations, agency policies and procedures and the Education Code as applicable. Reference CA Code of Regulations, Title 22 Sections 101215 and 101215.1and Title 5.
  • Responsible to assist in the accurate maintenance of classroom records including, but not limited to, written attendance, CACFP Meal Counts, Ouch Reports, Lesson Plans, curriculum, child observations (ASQ & DRDP), DRDP Tech, Learning Genie, Pinwheel, and parent training & communication.
  • Responsible to assist the accurate and timely preparation of individual Infant/Toddler records for each child that document the exceptional care for each child and reports back fun information to parents at the end of each day. Responsible to complete & post the daily “What I Did Today” form with the approval of the Lead Teacher.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work at various locations, as needed.
  • Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds to support children.
  • Ability to bend and squat to interact with children




Salary Description
$20-$24
