Job Summary
Position is full-Time (part- time options), day Shift, and in-person.
Assesses needs and abilities of patients of partnered pediatric primary care providers as referred. Develops recommendations and/or treatment plans to facilitate improved patient functioning/symptom resolution. Provides individual, family, and group psychotherapy as deemed clinically appropriate. Participates with program planning with the pediatric primary care providers, outpatient psychology program and other applicable team members.
Job Duties
We are seeking a Psychologist, LPA, LCSW or LCMHC, licensed or license-eligible, in North Carolina with a sincere passionate interest in working in primary care, medical settings or on interdisciplinary teams. Nova Behavioral Health is a pioneer in embedding and integrating behavioral health into primary care and other medical settings, as well as providing training opportunities to future behavioral health providers in eastern North Carolina.
As a behavioral health provider in pediatric primary care, Nova staff lock arms with a pediatric practice to foster strong professional relationships with PCPs, and to provide a high-quality patient behavioral health experience. In service of these goals, Nova staff provide evidence-based, patient-centered and consultative patient care and support maintenance of patients in their clinics and programs. Integrated psychologists fulfill the following services and roles:
- Provides evaluation and consultation appropriate to the pediatric medical setting.
- Develops and implements treatment plans and monitors care components.
- Delivers brief, evidence-based behavioral health and health behavior interventions.
- Facilitates patient and family education on presenting concerns.
- Consults with physicians and allied health providers to support decision making, build on medical interventions, and improve provider-patient relationships.
- Offers supervision and training to other members of the care team.
- Assists in design, development and implementation of clinical programs.
- Participates in program development/evaluation and quality improvement.
- Evaluates the ongoing biopsychosocial needs of patients, identifying needs and problems and determining a treatment plan.
- Provides psychotherapies and case management to assigned patients as well as input regarding the care of program patients.
- Engages as a primary therapist in individual and family therapies.
- Obtains pertinent data in accordance with program and regulatory standards.
- Upholds agency policies and standards as well as ethical standards of appropriate discipline.
- Collaborates with care teams to provide triage evaluation and crisis intervention.

Opportunities for training and practice in diverse areas of pediatric behavioral health are available, including: Autism psychological testing, traditional outpatient behavioral health therapy, behavioral consultation, parent coaching for developmental disabilities, and solution-focused treatment.
Minimum Education
Master's Degree (required) in any of the following:
- Psychology
- Clinical Social Work
- Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Certification(s) and License(s)
Licensure or License eligibility to practice independently for any of the following:
- Licensed Psychologist
- Licensed Psychological Associate
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Since 1985, NOVA Behavioral Health has been dedicated to supporting youth, adults, and families who face developmental, social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Our mission is to promote resilience in the individuals and families we serve through individualized, evidence-based assessment, skill building, and intervention. Pediatric outpatient psychological services began in 2019 under the name Tidal Integrated Health. The service was originally established to increase early access to behavioral health services for young people and their families in pediatricians’ offices. Psychological testing and skills building therapies were added in 2021 to meet additional behavioral health service needs in the area.

Requirements:
- NC Behavioral Health Provider license or license eligibility. Applicants should be credentialed as Licensed Psychologists (LP), Psychological Associates (LPA), Clinical Mental Health Counselors and Associates (LCHMC and LCHMCA), Social Workers (LCSW), or Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT).
