As a Senior Accountant at Otelier, you'll dive deep into financial data, implement accounting standards, and drive process improvements that support our business’s growth. This is a unique opportunity to make an impact in the hospitality software space— ensuring our financial integrity while helping shape the future of how hotels operate behind the scenes.
Responsibilities
- Stay current with the latest accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842) and ensure compliance with relevant regulations in the SaaS industry.
- Book recurring and non-recurring journal entries (revenue recognition, leases, expenses, fixed assets, etc.).
- Evaluate customer contracts to identify potential accounting issues, advise on proper revenue recognition treatment, and ensure alignment with company policies.
- Assist with external reporting, including quarterly and annual filings with regulatory authorities.
- Prepare relevant balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
- Assist with miscellaneous accounting projects, including budgeting and department reporting.
- Complete analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including trend analysis, variance analysis, and budget vs. actual comparisons, to provide insights for decision-making.
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, providing documentation, explanations, and support during financial audits and reviews.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and financial data.
- Assist the Controller in implementing and improving the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
- Assist the Controller in system and process implementation and optimization.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Legal, and Product teams to address accounting-related inquiries and provide guidance on financial implications of business decisions.
- Support the company in optimizing its financial transactions and systems
- Exercise integrity and confidentiality in business transactions, communications, and reporting
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned by management.
Payroll
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Update relevant payroll process documentation and assist with transformation and streamlining of the process
Billing
- Assist with monthly customer billing and communication
- Assist with implementation and documentation of new billing system
- Streamline and modify the billing process
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 3+ years of technical accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS environment.
- Understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and operational accounting
- Accounts receivable/ payable
- General ledger and journal entries
- Proficiency in financial software and tools (Microsoft Suite, NetSuite, Paylocity, etc.)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This position offers a base compensation range of $62,000 to $90,000. This range represents the potential compensation for this role, with actual pay varying based on factors such as the location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
