Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) is an international nongovernmental organization (NGO) dedicated to transforming the healthcare sector into a leader for environmental health and justice. Working globally, HCWH collaborates with healthcare professionals, hospitals, NGOs, governments, and international entities to promote environmentally healthy practices in healthcare. The organization focuses on reducing the environmental footprint of the healthcare sector and acting as a community anchor for sustainability. With regional offices in the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, a regional team in Latin America, and a Global secretariat, and a network of strategic partners across continents, HCWH fosters global and regional collaborations to address climate and health issues, supported by a global team. Its Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network has over 2,000 members in 86 countries who represent the interests of more than 70,000 hospitals and health centers. The network serves as one of the key vehicles through which the organization and its partners engage directly with the health care sector on the ground around the world and supports facilities in their transformation to becoming low carbon, resilient and sustainable.
Consultancy description
Health Care Without Harm seeks a Digital Communications Consultant to join its Global Team. The successful candidate must be fluent in Spanish and English, and will work with the Communications Team and international network to develop engaging content for social media, amplify key messages, design reports and visuals, and assist in project management and different initiatives.
Deliverables
- Social media: The successful candidate leads the development of messages and social media cards / graphics in English and Spanish for Health Care Without Harm’s Global team and GGHH social media accounts. Provides day-to-day support to the management of HCWH Global and GGHH social media accounts, monitors performance, prepares and presents timely reports, and collaborates with different teams to achieve communicational impact.
- Graphic design: Designs and edits reports, brochures, graphics, and illustrations as needed for the different programs according to the organization’s branding and image guidelines.
- Online platforms: Assists in the upload of materials, creation, and edition of pages, templates, and processes.
- Assists and supports the development and launch of newsletters and campaigns.
Qualifications and Competencies
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Passionate about communications, and has a pulse on the conversations in the social media space.
- Manages tight timelines, short turnaround times, and shifting priorities.
- At least two years experience in communications, preferably in the NGO or non-profit sectors.
- A BA or BS degree in Communications / Marketing or related fields, or combined experience/education as a substitute.
- Excellent written and oral English and Spanish communication skills.
- Independent: Being able to work virtually and independently. Additionally, effective time management and task prioritization are essential skills.
- Knowledge and experience with the following programs and platforms are required:
- Adobe suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Canva
- Drupal and MailChimp.
- Microsoft Office and Google suites.
- Experience with the following programs and platforms is preferred: Moodle
