LOCATION: The position is located at the NIC office in Annapolis, MD but can be remote.


General Summary

The Senior Principal/Principal will serve as a key member of the NIC Research and Analytics team and will be responsible for producing meaningful research pieces and thought leadership and establishing strong relationships with NIC volunteers and external constituents relating to specific subject matter expertise around the intersection between senior housing & care and healthcare. You will demonstrate the NIC Values of Being a Spark, Investing in Ourselves, Partnering with Others and Taking Pride in Our Work.


Requirements

 Subject Matter Expertise 

  • Lead and produce meaningful research pieces and thought leadership related to senior housing & care and have specific subject matter expertise with healthcare topics that impact the sector (including but not limited to CMS programs, value-based care, etc.)
  • Work with NIC marketing team to continue expanding the healthcare-related audiences.
  • Serve as the healthcare subject matter expert for NIC conferences and NIC Academy.
  • Serve as the Staff Liaison to Focus Area Committee on Partnering for Health.

Communication Skills

  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills and serve as a NIC representative in speaking engagements at industry conferences and events
  • Prepare written educational pieces that are of high quality and on topics that are leading-edge and most important to NIC constituents

External Relationships

  • Become recognized as the industry expert in the senior housing sector on matters related to healthcare-related topics as evidenced by media interviews, articles and invited presentations.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with other related experts in the field as well as key industry associations. 
  • Manage external research relationships with third-party contracts and advisory groups. 

Research and Analytics Skills

  • Demonstrate proficiency in executing meaningful research projects include research design. 
  • Utilize principles of strong project management in outlining the scope of work and executing research projects in accordance with pre-established timelines. 
  • Interpret research findings with a strategic mindset and convey results in a meaningful way for all NIC stakeholder groups.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, statistics, finance, business or equivalent, and ten to fifteen years related experience in commercial real estate research, seniors housing and care, or healthcare; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with public speaking and writing articles for external audiences comprised of numerous constituencies. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional experience in conducting research within the seniors housing and care property industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the commercial real estate industry and macroeconomics, and experience with various real estate, economic, demographic, capital markets, and healthcare databases.
  • Experience building statistical analyses and models.
  • Familiarity with the goals of healthcare payors, entities such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and value-based care models.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Work is generally remote but when working in the NIC office environment there may be exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily or prolonged periods of time and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary. Physical requirements of this position include the following:

Lifting up to 25 lbs  

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Salary Description
$150,000 to $160,000/ Annual
