The R&D Regulatory Engineer is responsible for research, analysis, and reporting of North American Automotive regulation and certification policies and procedures to guide Mobis product development and compliance. The Regulatory Engineer reports to the Senior Manager, Strategy and Planning at Mobis Technical Center America (MTCA) located in Plymouth, MI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze North American Regulation and Certification policies (NHTSA, EPA, NCAP, etc.) for internal and external customers including regional engineering and Korean headquarters Regulatory and Certification Planning.
- Interact and communicate with external regulatory and environmental consultants and industry associations; recommend and maintain relevant affiliations.
- Proactively define recommendations based on future North American regulatory actions that drive product compliance and future strategy.
- Maintain global awareness of NA and Euro NCAP and other regulatory systems effecting the Mobis business.
- Identify, recommend, and attend key industry conferences / events; provide actionable analysis and reports
- Support the development and filing of Mobis comments related to NHTSA Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM).
- Develop daily and monthly tracking of relevant Federal and State laws and regulations for all Mobis North America product areas.
- Develop timely responses to ad-hoc regulatory requests, regionally and globally.
Collaborative Working Relationships:
Strategy and Planning, NA and Korea Engineering, Korean Headquarters Regulatory and Certification Team, External Consultants and associations, networking.
Key Tasks:
- Research, analysis, and reporting through written and verbal presentation
- Primary regulatory research will be in the areas of infotainment, electrification, connectivity, environmental, advanced driving assistance systems, autonomous vehicles, safety, lighting, and chassis components, including steering and brakes.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or related.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience developing research and analysis of data, providing reports
- Demonstrated interest for researching legal and regulatory policy; Familiar with US State and Federal Regulatory landscape (NHTSA, NCAP)
- Works well in team environment
- Familiarity with emerging technologies preferred
- Automotive Industry knowledge preferred
Travel Requirements:
· Up to 10% to domestic and international

· English
· Bilingual in Korean is a plus, not required.
