About the Role
The Solution Architect plays a crucial role in supporting Origin’s initiatives by deploying and operating key business systems for modernizing utilities. This individual is a team leader who collaborates with multiple levels of client management and subject matter experts to craft cross-platform solutions that solve critical business needs across the meter-to-cash lifecycle. They provide technical and functional guidance to deliver clear specifications of the customer’s business requirements and data supported solutions. They also ensure the successful implementation of scalable and cost-effective solutions that align with clients' short- and long-term goals while relaying value added benefits and associated Return on Investment (ROI).
Solution and Business Domain Experience & Duties
- Apply professional expertise in utilities, enterprise systems, and Oracle Utilities Application Framework (OUAF) to develop innovative solutions.
- Manage the scope of functional and solutions architecture, minimizing risks for both clients and Origin.
- Lead and guide clients through multiple design options to develop cohesive solutions aligned with industry best practices.
- Analyze software requirements across ERP and CIS domains, defining solution parameters and specifications.
- Stay informed on current technologies and industry trends to incorporate them effectively into Origin’s solutions.
- Collaborate with Origin product development teams on new product ideas, leveraging insights gained from client engagements.
- Advise on the impact of the integration of new applications will impact existing applications and provide solutions.
Customer Focus
- Lead client engagements with a focus on building long-term business partnerships.
- Manage complex stakeholder relationships, influencing business decisions that align with both client and Origin goals.
- Lead project kickoffs and design workshops, guiding stakeholders toward agreement on design proposals.
- Build strong relationships with clients by addressing business drivers and challenges with platform-spanning solutions.
- Manage client expectations, ensuring systems meet budget and time constraints while achieving project goals.
- Identify additional service opportunities for new or existing clients, working with account teams to develop proposals.
- Ensure consistent communication with clients to preempt and resolve any issues that could impact engagement success.
Sales and Business Development
- Collaborate with account teams to identify potential solutions and pull-through opportunities.
- Assess client challenges and provide proposals for additional Origin services.
- Contribute to bids and proposals by developing content that aligns with Origin’s standards.
- Present solutions to prospective clients with senior management, demonstrating business value and ROI.
Financial Accountability
- Identifies and leads strategic opportunities to upsell and collaborates with account manager to extend Origin’s offerings withing client ecosystems.
- Assess client challenges and provide proposals for additional Origin services.
- Develops and presents high-value proposals alongside senior management, emphasizing ROI and strategic alignment.
Mentoring Responsibilities
- Guides the professional development of junior team members with structured mentoring plans.
- Lead multi-tiered workstreams across large-scale, multi-product implementations.
- Actively supports recruitment by identifying top talent and participating in hiring decisions.
Competencies
- Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Expertise in managing change, system modernization, and transformation efforts.
- Proven ability to manage the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Experience facilitating design workshops and building consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
Solution and Business Domain Experience
- Requires 8+ years of experience in utilities, with advanced expertise in Oracle Utilities solutions (CC&B, C2M, CCS).
- Deep integration knowledge and hands-on experience in leading cross-functional projects.
- In-depth understanding of Customer Information Systems (CIS) and meter-to-cash processes.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage complex systems and align solutions with business strategy.
- Familiarity with OUAF design and development principles, including integration with ERP and CIS platforms.
- Expertise in integration of utility/ municipal edge systems and a deep understanding of enterprise integrated system architecture.
Supervisory Skills
- Advanced experience in mentoring junior staff and managing project teams.
- Ability to lead complex, multi-product implementations with multiple workstreams.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related fields, with a focus on advanced systems knowledge.
- Advanced degree in a related field or business administration degrees are a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations
- Oracle Utilities Implementation Certification(s) strongly recommended for this role.
Other Qualifications
- Must be available for at least 25% travel.
