Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP is seeking a full-time New York State admitted attorney for our Labor and Employment practice group. This position would be based out of our Binghamton or Cortland, New York office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advise and counsel clients on a wide array of labor and employment issues; research and analyze relevant labor and employment law issues; draft correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, policies and contracts.
- Represent employers in administrative hearings and proceedings including grievance arbitrations, GML 207 disability claims, and collective bargaining agreement disputes.
- Defend employers in state and federal courts on a wide array of labor and employment matters, including wage and hour, restrictive covenant, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, and employment claims.
- Represent employers in collective bargaining negotiations, mediation, interest arbitration proceedings and unfair labor/improper practice proceedings before the NLRB and PERB.
- Defend municipal determinations in Article 78 proceedings; move to stay arbitration and vacate or confirm arbitration awards.
- Train clients’ supervisors and employees on human resource compliance, present at seminars and webinars on labor and employment matters, and draft labor and employment newsletter articles.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current New York Bar admission.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Desire to develop and further legal skills.
- 3+ years of experience preferred.
- Admission in NDNY, WDNY, SDNY, and EDNY is preferred, but not necessary at time of hire.
