Description

Sewickley Academy is seeking to hire a Head Boys JV Basketball Coach. The part-time  is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to student-athletes and assistant coaches, as well as, providing an overall vision for the program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for basketball and a proven track record of coaching high school athletes.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program for the Boys JV team
  • Plan and conduct individual and team practices
  • Plan, develop and implement competitive game strategies
  • Collaborate with the sports performance staff to enhance the physical capabilities of all student-athletes
  • Provide guidance to the administration on strategic scheduling
  • Provide leadership to all members of the basketball program, including players, coaches, and staff
  • Assist with the long-term planning for the boy’s basketball program by working with coaches at all levels
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship and teamwork
  • Foster an environment that focuses on the academic mission of the institution
  • Ensure compliance with all Academy, WPIAL, and PIAA policies and regulations

Requirements:

  • Previous successful coaching experience at the high school varsity level or collegiate level
  • Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their full potential
  • Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture
  • Proven ability to foster academic growth for all student-athletes
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid or the willingness to acquire these certifications
