Under the supervision of the CEO or COO, the Staff Accountant I Associate is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining the day-to-day accounting functions, while coordinating the payroll outcomes with the general accounting functions within or external to the company, as required. The Staff Accountant I Associate shall perform various support duties to maintain our client accounting software according to federal, state, county and city regulations utilizing various accounting software tools. Responsible for supporting the goal of maintaining accurate documentation and clear communication with internal staff and external business partners acting as a liaison between Accounting, HR and the employees of our clients. This is a full or part-time non-exempt hourly position with an opportunity to grow as the company grows.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NONE

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential job duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Assist with data entry and daily accounting transactions. 
  • Reconcile accounts (AP/AR). 
  • Prepare basic financial reports (e.g., balance sheets). 
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes. 
  • Process vendor payments and invoices. 
  • Assist with grant reporting and tracking. 
  • Provide clear financial reporting and insights to management. 
  • Train and mentor junior staff.
  • Support donor database management.

Schedule:

  • Fulltime or Part-time
  • Monday to Friday
  • Hours 8 am – 5 pm 
  • The specific hours to be agreed upon by the individual and the partners. However, we anticipate a minimum of 15-25 hours/week for part-time and 30-40 hours per week for fulltime depending upon our client growth and processing needs.

Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in Accounting software (3 years minimum experience).
  • 1-3 years of general accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Strong verbal, written and in-person communication skills w/ ability to communicate with internal or external teams regarding routine transactions or procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 – specifically expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, team player environment.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work independently or with a team to drive results and performance as well as solve moderately complex accounting and reporting issues
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback.
