Title: Composite Technician
Department: Manufacturing
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Summary: Composites Technicians play a crucial role in the manufacturing process of composite materials, ensuring precision and quality in the production of various components. The Composite Technician will work closely with other team members and areas of production to ensure that production targets are met, and products meet the required quality standards. Composites Technicians will also be responsible for adhering to safety protocols and following standard operating procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment that aligns with ISO 9001 requirements. The ideal candidate for this role will be a highly detail-oriented individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare molds for composite lay-up, ensuring molds are clean, properly coated, and ready for production.
- Prepare and lay up composite materials according to engineering specifications, including cutting, shaping, and assembling materials.
- Mix and apply resins, adhesives, and other bonding agents according to specified ratios, ensuring proper saturation and bonding of materials.
- Oversee the curing process to achieve optimal material properties and product strength.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks throughout the production process to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
- Identify and address defects or issues in composite components, conducting repairs and troubleshooting as needed to meet quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of materials used, production processes, and quality control measures, ensuring accurate documentation for traceability.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal condition for production activities.
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace
Required Skills / Abilities
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production targets.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Composites manufacturing /production experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse the production facility.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
