Description

Position Objective:

To assist the Cruelty Investigations Division in assessing and intervening in a wide range of animal abuse cases across the country


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist in a wide variety of animal abuse situations, using discretion and independent judgment

• Provide caseworkers with research and administrative support on animal protection issues and laws

• Obtain relevant information regarding assigned cases via telephone, the Internet, and reference sources

• Guide callers regarding the best course of action for cruelty cases

• Educate the public about humane treatment of animals

• Maintain confidential files, correspondence files, case reports, and other departmental reports

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to make independent decisions in crisis situations

• Ability to handle cruelty complaint calls in a professional manner

• Proven exceptional research skills

• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with a variety of people

• Proven excellent proofreading and organizational skills

• Proven ability to work well under pressure and multitask

• Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times

• Ability and willingness to be on 24-hour emergency call

• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle

• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to advocate PETA's positions on issues professionally

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization




  

The hourly pay range for this position is $15.00 - $19.97 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
